Snoop Dogg Writes Rap Anthem for Son's HS Football Team
What did your parents do for your sports games?
Mine were kind enough to come and observe my modest attempts to help a small school of non-scholarship-bound athletes valiantly battle against another small school of non-scholarship-bound athletes. Just seeing them in the crowd meant a lot to me.
So I can only imagine what Cordell Broadus feels like now that his father, singer-songwriter Snoop Dogg, has tailored a bass-dropping anthem specifically for his son’s high school football team, the Bishop Gorman Gaels.
For The Win’s Nina Mandell spotted audio of the track, which features a little bit of everything:
Flavor Flav screams “yeah boy,” Snoop tells refs to “move them chains” and the U.S. men’s national soccer team’s “I believe that we will win” chant makes an appearance at the end.
Those keeping up with the Gaels’ undefeated season know that Broadus is not the only burgeoning and tangentially famous talent on the team. Biaggio Ali Walsh, grandson of Muhammad Ali, took the step up from junior varsity this year and joined Broadus on the big-boy squad.
In summary, Bishop Gorman now possesses strong athletes, celebrity backing and a new, badass theme song.
If the entire Gaels student section isn't foaming at the mouth and screaming "move them chains" on Friday night, they'll have squandered a great opportunity.
