After experiencing the high of two touchdown catches in the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 3 win over the Miami Dolphins, running back Joe McKnight's season took an awful turn on Thursday.
According to BJ Kissel of KCChiefs.com, the USC product suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in practice:
Although the Chiefs have yet to comment on his status, that figures to be a season-ending injury. Per ESPN.com's Adam Teicher, Achilles injuries have become a major problem for the Chiefs already this season:
McKnight was third on the Chiefs' depth chart at running back behind Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis, but he seemed to be developing into a useful gadget player in addition to his duties as a return man.
He appeared to be the perfect player to fill the void left by Dexter McCluster when he joined the Tennessee Titans, but the Chiefs will now have to look elsewhere with McKnight on the shelf.
