Chelsea vs. Bolton: Capital One Cup Date, Time, Live Stream, TV Info and More

Gianni VerschuerenSep 23, 2014

Chelsea will host the struggling Bolton Wanderers on Wednesday in the third round of the Capital One Cup, and the Blues are in prime position to continue their impressive start to the 2014-15 season.

Bolton sit dangerously close to the relegation zone in the Football League Championship, having won just one of their first eight fixtures. Things aren't looking good for the Wanderers, and a trip to Stamford Bridge is the last thing the team needed right now.

The Blues are still undefeated in the 2014-15 season and are expected to rest some key players on Wednesday, but their deep and strong bench should still make sure this third-round match passes without a hitch for the hosts.

The hosts are in the middle of a busy part of their schedule, with UEFA Champions League fixtures also on the horizon, and via the Daily Mail's Sami Mokbel, assistant manager Steve Holland confirmed Wednesday's starting XI will see some changes:

"

It is an opportunity to rotate the squad. We will do that for sure. In terms of who definitely is and who definitely isn't playing at the moment that's unclear.

There will be some changes tomorrow and it will be an opportunity for some players to stake a claim.

"

One of the biggest question marks is who will be in goal, but Holland refused to make a statement on whether it would be Petr Cech or Thibaut Courtois who would start:

"

I don't think he's tried to specify which goalkeeper will play in which competition. It will be just judged on merit on a week-to-week basis.

We're very lucky to have two, three, high-level players to choose from. Whatever choice is made we have total confidence in our goalkeepers.

"

One player who won't be seeing the pitch is Brazil international Ramirez, who picked up an abductor muscle injury, according to SuperSport Blitz:

John Terry is one of many stars expected to be rested against Bolton, with Branislav Ivanovic potentially moving to the centre of the defence to make room for Filipe Luis.

Youngster Nathan Ake will relish the opportunity to prove what he could do, and a match against Wanderers presents the perfect opportunity for him to claim some minutes as a holding midfielder.

Eden Hazard is another regular not expected to feature, but in Andre Schurrle and Oscar, the Blues have more than enough attacking talent to replace the Belgium international. Finally, Loic Remy will almost certainly replace Diego Costa, who has been phenomenal during the first part of the season.

Fox Sports Australia's Daniel Garb confirmed Chris Herd has completed his loan move from Aston Villa to Bolton, and he could already feature on Wednesday:

Wanderers are going to need all the help they can get. The 2014-15 season has started much like the last campaign ended for the club, and their recent record against the Blues isn't exactly sterling, via Chelsea Stats:

Cup football can bring out the best in everyone, but there's no denying the Blues are the strong favourites going into this fixture. Barring another massive upset, Chelsea should cruise into the fourth round of the 2014 Capital One Cup.
