Colts vs. Jaguars: Twitter Reaction and Full Postgame Quotes

The Indianapolis Colts took care of business against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, winning 44-17 in a game that was somehow not as close as the final 27-point margin.

It was an expected win for the Colts, as the Jaguars have arguably been the league's worst team through the first three weeks of the season. But don't discount from the Colts, who were aggressive from beginning to end. This one was never in doubt, and the Colts' execution and game plan combined for a dominating win in the AFC South.

The most notable thing out of this game is just how bad Jacksonville truly is. Whether it was offense or defense, the Jaguars could do nothing right in the first half, and the gap between the Colts and the Jaguars was more of a chasm. It was a reminder that even with the Colts' deficiencies, they should be notably better than their AFC South counterparts.

While the Jaguars' offensive struggles were tied to Chad Henne's ineptitude in the first half, the defense had no answers.

The Colts punted just twice in the game, the first not coming until the third quarter. The Colts could stand to improve their red-zone offense, which had just a 60 percent touchdown rate on drives inside the Jaguars' 10-yard line. But against a much more inferior opponent, the Colts could afford to be a bit more conservative Sunday.

The rest of the AFC South wasn't any better on Sunday, with the Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans each losing by double digits. The Colts play the Titans next week, and it will be a good barometer of how big the gap is between the Colts and the rest of the division. The Jaguars are one of the league's worst clubs. Tennessee is not a good team, but it should be decidedly better than the Jaguars.

The Colts gave the keys to the offense to Andrew Luck on Sunday, and it paid off beautifully. The Colts were finally able to generate some big plays through the air, finishing with 10 plays gaining 20 yards or more.

Luck was phenomenal throughout, with his only glaring mistake being a poor throw on a slant to T.Y. Hilton in the first half, leading to a field goal rather than a touchdown. But Luck directed the offense with ease otherwise, taking some shots downfield and taking his dump-offs when necessary. After two games where his accuracy and pre-snap reads were erratic, Luck took advantage of the hapless Jaguars on Sunday.

It was crucial for the Colts to get the downfield passing offense going on Sunday, as they've struggled to be consistent there all season. Now if they can continue that success, they have a chance to be one of the league's best offenses.

Once the Jaguars inserted Blake Bortles into the lineup in the second half, the Jacksonville offense showed much more life, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. The Jaguars are a bad team with or without Bortles.

Don't get me wrong, playing Bortles over Henne is the right move, and it looks like the Jaguars will do so going forward as well. Bortles is more mobile, a key with the lack of depth the Jaguars currently have on the offensive line, and has more zip to his throws. He made his share of plays, including a 20-yard run on a read-option.

But Bortles also made his share of mistakes, including two interceptions. His touchdowns weren't impressive, one coming on an embarrassing show of tackling by the Colts on a 63-yard catch-and-run for Allen Hurns and the other coming on a fake spike with just 17 seconds left in the game. Bortles has the potential to be good and is the right choice for a starter, but he's not challenging Luck anytime soon.

Hilton came up slow after a catch for a first down late in the first half and would be held out for the entire second half with an ankle injury. Fortunately, it seems that injury won't keep him from playing in any significant games. The Colts could afford to hold him out in the second half with the big lead in Jacksonville, but make no mistake, Hilton was Luck's No. 1 target in the first half (five catches, 80 yards).

But fortunately for the Colts, Hilton's injury had a silver lining: getting rookie wide receiver Donte Moncrief on the field. Moncrief was electric, impressive as a receiver and as a runner. He finished with 55 yards on four catches and an end-around carry for seven yards on the ground. He should figure into the Colts' offensive plans this season.

The Colts' special teams was a bit of an afterthought on a dominating day in Jacksonville, but Pat McAfee and Adam Vinatieri have been fantastic throughout the last two weeks and continued it on Sunday.

McAfee looks like the league's best punter at the moment, and Vinatieri has been flawless as a kicker.
