Copa Sudamericana 2014: Latest Results and Updated 2nd-Round Schedule
South America's second-tier international tournament will resume action on Tuesday evening as some of the continent's biggest sides go in search of Copa Sudamericana glory.
As things stand, only 11 spots remain in the next phase of the competition, with 22 outfits each hoping to book a spot in the third round.
Over the next nine days, the 2014 Copa Sudamericana will sort the wheat from the chaff and allow only those most worthy of its stage to continue.

Third-Round Entrants

Brazil's four third-round combatants have already been decided after Bahia, Goias, Sao Paulo and Vitoria won their respective second-round matchups earlier in September.
They're joined in the round of 16 by defending champions Lanus, who enter the competition late by virtue of last year's triumph and will face whoever advances out of Independiente del Valle or Cerro Porteno.

Some potentially strong competition has been beaten at the hands of Brazil's bastions, including Fluminense and Internacional, each of whom have featured in finals in the past five years.
The Gimnasia Curse
An intriguing—and downright strange—story emerged on Tuesday. Prior to the clash between Gimnasia and Estudiantes, the former hired the talents of what was described by ESPN FC's Sam Kelly as "a dwarf priest/wizard" to either sanctify or curse the latter's pitch:
Goal.com's Argentinian branch reveal images of the figure in question, showing just how serious a matter the Copa Sudamericana is to the clubs and fans competing in it:
Whether the "priest/wizard" will be able to have an impact on proceedings is up for debate, but with the scores tied at 0-0 after the first leg, anything looks possible at present.
Round 2 Must-Watch Matchup
River Plate vs. Godoy Cruz
Argentinian football isn't regarded as being the most entertaining of South America's premier divisions, but a high-stakes fixture between River Plate and Godoy Cruz promises plenty of fireworks.

With the scoreline currently 1-0 in favour of River Plate after the first leg, Godoy Cruz will be forced to hunt down the 2014 Torneo Final champions, having finished fourth in the standings themselves.
Carlos Mayor's side only won three of their nine away fixtures last season, while River Plate only once suffered a home defeat, outlining just what a performance Thursday's visitors will need to give if they're to upset the odds.
