Tottenham Hotspur twice threw away the lead to draw 2-2 with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
Mauricio Pochettino's side looked to be heading towards a good three points on the road when an unfortunate Harry Kane own goal saw Gus Poyet's men draw level.
The game had started in fast and furious fashion with both teams looking to attack from the off. With just two minutes played Tottenham took the lead.
Emmanuel Adebayor fashioned himself some space on the edge of the box. His stinging shot was pushed out by Vito Mannone to a lurking Nacer Chadli who coolly guided home.
Spurs did not have long to celebrate their lead.
Down the other end Sunderland worked the ball out left to Adam Johnson whose mazy dribble bamboozled the weak defensive efforts of Eric Dier and Etienne Capoue. The winger's shot was not clean, but it deflected off Younes Kaboul and past Hugo Lloris into the net.
The away side dominated possession for the remainder of the first-half. Some pretty passages of play resulted in half-chances, which were snuffed out by an alert Black Cats backline.
A repeat of the first-half looked to be on the cards after the interval when Christian Eriksen put Spurs 2-1 up with a tap-in following a ricochet from a Chadli cross. They held firm in the face of immediate Sunderland pressure and looked most likely to score again.
As Mousa Dembele had done in the first-half, Erik Lamela hit the woodwork from long-range. The miss kept Sunderland alive, and galvanised by the introductions of Will Buckley and Emanuele Giaccherini, they turned the tide.
Posing a particular threat from wide, Spurs were keeping them out with Vlad Chiriches and Dier making some key tackles and blocks. That changed with 81 minutes on the clock.
Sunderland's last substitute Jordi Gomez was clumsily brought down on the left-wing by Capoue. Spurs' defence watched on as the subsequent free-kick flew across the box, eventually bouncing off Kane and in.
A dive from Danny Rose won Spurs a dangerous stoppage-time free-kick which Lamela proceeded to sky way over the bar. A couple of runs from the Argentinian won further opportunities from deadball situations, but Sunderland held on for the point.
