Liverpool Transfer News: Red Devils Have No Use for German Star Christoph Kramer
Liverpool are reportedly one of many clubs looking to bring in German youngster Christoph Kramer, but while the 23-year-old is a promising talent, the Reds' talented group of central midfielders means they'd have little use for his services.
According to German paper Bild (h/t to NBC Sports' Joe Prince-Wright), Liverpool are one of the clubs showing a keen interest in Kramer, along with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.
Kramer is perhaps best known for his brief cameo during the 2014 World Cup final, replacing the injured Sami Khedira before suffering a head injury in the first half. The Bayer Leverkusen midfielder is currently turning heads with his play for Borussia Monchengladbach, quickly emerging as a budding star.

The tall German international plays as a holding midfielder but shows a lot of potential as a box-to-box option, with a big engine and the technical ability to contribute in the attacking third.
Standing well over 6' tall, Kramer needs to add some much-needed bulk to his skinny frame to survive the physical battles in the centre of the pitch. As reported by Squawka's Jack Watson, he won just 38 percent of his tackles in Bundesliga play last season, an issue that could be remedied by simply adding more power.
Kramer is a supremely talented player—there's a reason so many top clubs are reportedly vying for his services. His passing ability is top notch, leading the entire Gladbach team in pass completion percentage, an impressive 88 percent.
But the Reds already field a number of intriguing talents in the centre of the pitch, and adding Kramer would only cloud the picture. Joe Allen and Jordan Henderson are both young and gifted options who are features next to veteran star Steven Gerrard.
The club also has high hopes for German youngster Emre Can, who gave fans a glimpse of his potential in his team's U21 friendly against Ireland, via this fan:
We haven't even mentioned Lucas Leiva yet, who at the very least adds valuable depth to the position.
The Reds would love to add a talent like Kramer to the squad, but at what cost? if the likes of Real Madrid and Manchester United are also involved in the bidding process, the 23-year-old won't be moving to Anfield at a discount.
And unlike Liverpool, both Los Blancos and the Red Devils have a clear need at the position. Real Madrid just lost Xabi Alonso and only have two true defensive specialists left in the squad: Khedira, who has struggled with injury in the past, and Asier Illarramendi, who doesn't appear to present the upside Kramer does.
United have even fewer options available to them, and they'd love the concept of a Daley Blind-Ander Herrera-Kramer triangle.
Both clubs will be aggressive in the transfer market and drive up the price considerably. With that in mind, it makes little sense for the Reds to invest a small fortune in a position they already addressed during the summer and one that should be considered a strength.
Kramer will be a hot commodity once it becomes clear Leverkusen are looking to sell (or the player demands a transfer), and given the relative financial strength and positional needs of Real Madrid and Manchester United, Liverpool shouldn't get involved in the race for his signature.
