Brazilian legend Ronaldinho is heading to Liga MX club Queretara after the sides reached an agreement on a deal following his departure from Atletico Mineiro.

ESPN's Tom Marshall had the report:

The 34-year-old longtime superstar had signed a contract extension with the Galo back in January. He enjoyed plenty of success over his first two campaigns with the Brasileirao club, scoring 27 goals as one of the focal points of the attack.

He wasn't able to showcase the same type of form this year, however. Perhaps that played a role in the sides agreeing to go their separate ways, which was reported by Eurosport, and made him free to sign with any club:

After the decision was announced, Ronaldinho bid farewell to Atletico to acknowledge the time he spent there. He posted this Twitter message, which reads in part, "Galo is always going to be in my heart!" (h/t 101GreatGoals.com):

The question was which clubs would be interested in him. After all, he's a player who has experience playing with some of the world's most high-profile sides, including Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and AC Milan.

His form has dropped off since those days, of course. He still showcased enough talent during his time with the Galo to warrant consideration for clubs seeking a boost on the attack. And he still has plenty of star power as the two-time FIFA World Player of the Year.

Squawka Football provided some numbers to showcase his natural talent with Atletico during the previous campaign:

It will be interesting to see if the move rejuvenates Ronaldinho. There's no doubt he can produce flashes of brilliance, even as he enters the latter stages of his career. Producing at a high level on a regular basis proved tougher before parting ways with Atletico Mineiro.

At some point, the highlight-reel goals are going to stop and the lightning-quick ball tricks will fade away. His new club just hopes he can fend off Father Time for at least another season and potentially rekindle some of his peak magic.

If he does, it would make for quite a story.
