US Open 2014 Leaderboard: Real-Time Updates for All Day 4 Leaders at Pinehurst
It's safe to say Martin Kaymer is playing pretty well.
Last month he nailed down an impressive win at the PGA Tour's unofficial fifth major when he captured The Players championship. Now he's just one round away from taking the first real major of his career.
The 29-year-old German has a five-stroke lead after three rounds. Here's the most updated leaderboard.
Kaymer notched back-to-back five-under 65s in the first two rounds. In the third round he came back down to Earth with a two-over 72, but no competitor could pull dangerously close to Kaymer on the leaderboard.
Unless someone in the top 10 goes bananas on Sunday and Kaymer falters, the top of the leaderboard shouldn't change. Kaymer has an idea of how to hold on to his lead on Sunday.
After play was over on Saturday, Kaymer said, per Steve DiMeglio, of USA Today:
"I made three bogeys the first six holes. I didn't hit many fairways today. So the challenge will be tomorrow, to keep going and not try to defend anything. Because if you try to defend then you're not free enough. You don't swing as free. And that will be the challenge. So we'll see how it will react tomorrow, how the body feels, and how I handle the situation.
"
There's a host of players hoping Kaymer falters.
Other Notables
Rickie Fowler

Fowler is trying to prove he's more than bright clothes and trendy hairstyles.
Jason Sobel of the Golf Channel thinks he's doing enough to convince the golf world he's the real deal.
On the strength of a three-under 67 in the third round, Fowler jumped 12 spots on the leaderboard to second place at three-under par. Fowler shook off a bogey on the 11th hole and finished strong.
He had birdies on the 13th and 17th holes to get back to three-under on the day. Fowler spoke after his great performance on Saturday.
Fowler must maintain the pace he set on Saturday, but he also needs Kaymer to stumble.
Jordan Spieth

Consistency has been the issue for Spieth at Pinehurst. He was headed for a respectable even-par round before he bogeyed the 17th and 18th holes.
The late missteps really ruined an otherwise solid day filled with scrambles and clutch, par-saving putts.
Spieth is more than likely out of contention heading into the final round. Sunday will just be another step in the impressive maturation process for the 21-year-old.
Rory McIlroy

McIlroy fell apart on Saturday with a four-over 74. The remote chance he had to contend went out the window with five bogeys on the front nine.
He was able to improve his day a bit on the back nine, but the damage was done.
Another major will pass without McIlroy living up to his enormous potential.
