Three Kings: The Rulers of the Sports World
Over the past few weeks, the stakes have been raised due in large part to writers, columnists, and fans all calling out the best. With the playoffs on the horizon, it’s time to honor the three most talked about men over the past week and a half. It’s time to honor the three kings of the sports world at this moment.
Roger Federer (Tennis)No one has caused more noise or raised the roof more often than the longhaired warrior of the clay court, Roger Federer. The Clay Master just recently accomplished what hasn’t been done in over 80 years. Federer won his 4th straight U.S. Open Championships, tying Bill Tilden for the record he set between 1921 and 1925. So what is the rest of his resume consist of, you ask? Here’s the word of Rog: 10 straight slam final appearances, 12 grand slam championships, 5 straight Wimbledon, 4 straight Opens, and back to back Australian Open Championships. His only Achilles heel happens to have been Rafael Nadal, who for the last two years has kept Federer from winning a single season Grand Slam. Other than Nadal, Roger is on pace to bring Pete Sampras out of retirement.

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Alex Rodriguez, NY Yankees
What’s more enjoyable than the tabloids kissing A-Rod’s butt? Making nice with him and the Yankees. Since the beginning of September, Rodriguez has been the savior of the Bronx Bombers, but also has assumed his leadership role with pride in the absence of Derek Jeter. In September, A-Rod has been on fire. Has anyone been paying attention? You bet your @$$ everyone has been paying attention! His stats are as follows: .565 batting average with 7 homers, 11 RBIs, 9 runs scored, and a 1.478 slugging percentage…all in the month of September. Rodriguez’s 52 jacks has him on pace to match the Yankee greats of yesteryear and since his explosiveness, the Yankees are 5-1 and 4 games ahead of the Detroit Tigers for the wild card spot in the playoffs. Their only Achilles heel seems to be the Red Sox, but no matter how good the Sox are, things are about to change dramatically in the AL. Expect the New York Yankees to shut everyone up once again. By the way, someone tell Jay Mariotti, JA Adande, and that walking sub sandwich Bill Platschke to apologize to Woody Paige for saying the Yankees won’t make the playoffs. Well boys, the Yanks are almost in. How do you like Dem Apples?
If anyone can name a better golfer of this generation, they must be dreaming. For the record, there is no one better in golf than Tiger Woods. After polishing off a victory at the BMW Championship, Woods is on pace to win the FedEx Cup and the Tour Championship, not to mention $10 million dollars in cash money. At the age of 31, Woods became the youngest player to reach 60 victories. To make it even better, he joins Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus, Ben Hogan, and Arnold Palmer in the 60-win club. But the best thing that Tiger has accomplished and not realized it until it was brought to his attention was this: Tiger has shot a 56 under par in six tournaments since his daughter, Sam Alexis was born. So Rory Sabbatini said that Tiger looked beatable. Phil said he could win it just like that. Everyone has said that Tiger can’t win forever, but there’s just one problem with that: someone forgot to tell Tiger that. Unless the heat completely destroys the golf course at East Lake, expect the Sultan of Swing to be feeling like Dave Chapelle and screaming out three words that no opposing golfer wants to hear: I’M RICH BIOCHE!!
Not to sound completely clichéd, but it’s long overdue to say this. After the week that these three men have had, it’s only fitting to say that it’s time to bow down. Bow Down to the Kings. They’ve earned their moment in the spotlight, and not even Big Papi, Rory, or Rafael can take that from them right now.
