A number of surprising upsets from the second round created some intriguing matchups for Sunday. At least one double-digit seed will advance to the next round thanks to the battle between No. 11 Tennessee and No. 14 Mercer, while No. 12 Stephen F. Austin and No. 10 Stanford will also try to keep their hopes alive.

No. 3 Creighton vs. No. 6 Baylor
Few people can deny Doug McDermott's skill as an offensive threat. The nation's leading scorer totaled 30 points in the opening win over Louisiana-Lafayette and barely broke a sweat in the process.
His ability to hit shots from the outside could be dangerous for a Baylor squad that plays zone and has struggled defensively at times.
The problem is that the Bluejays will have to score from beyond the arc because it will not be easy to get buckets inside. Head coach Greg McDermott explained, via John Werner of the Waco Tribune: "Obviously, they protect the rim very well with Cory (Jefferson) and Isaiah (Austin) back there. There aren’t as many holes in the middle as there were in the past. If they do make a mistake, they cover up so quickly because of that length and athletic ability."
This length and size up front will also make a difference on the offensive end, as Creighton will struggle to defend Cory Jefferson, Isaiah Austin and Rico Gathers.
Baylor is playing as well as any team in the nation at this point with 11 wins in the past 13 games. The Bears' physicality and size will give them an advantage in this one, and they will pull out a win in Texas.
No. 1 Wichita State vs. No. 8 Kentucky
As soon as the brackets were released, virtually everyone was looking at this matchup as possibly the best in the tournament.
Gary Parrish of CBS Sports discusses this battle as one of the best ever in this round: "Reasonable minds can disagree on the potential outcome, but it would be unreasonable for any fan to pass on this moment. The most-compelling Round of 32 game in NCAA Tournament history is on tap. The Scottrade Center is soldout. I'll be courtside. I can't wait."
Wichita State is now 35-0, but the squad is still getting little respect thanks to a poor schedule. However, the Shockers were out to prove they belonged with an impressive first game, as noted by Pat Forde of Yahoo Sports:

They finished with a 64-37 win and have the talent and experience to keep this up throughout the tournament.
On the other hand, Kentucky entered the year as the preseason No. 1 and can beat anyone in the nation when playing well. Still, the inconsistent squad will have to play at its best to secure the victory.
Considering Wichita State has been playing at its best all year long, it should be able to survive the upset threat.
No. 1 Virginia vs. No. 8 Memphis
A No. 16 seed has still never defeated a No. 1 in the NCAA tournament, but Virginia made sure it was close. Coastal Carolina had the lead at halftime and only lost by 11.
Jeff Borzello of CBS Sports notes that the Cavaliers were doing things they do not normally do:
One thing that held was the solid defense, which has been among the best in the nation all season. Virginia makes almost every shot difficult, causing low shooting percentages.
However, Memphis has made a habit of finishing tough shots all year. The team ranks 23rd in the country in shooting percentage, thanks to its ability to get into the lane and get the ball in the net regardless of who is playing defense.
Joe Jackson and Michael Dixon Jr. can be trusted to make shots when needed—something that might be a problem for Virginia without any true go-to players.
This will be an ugly game, but the Memphis has the ability to pull out the narrow win.
