Video: Goole Captain Karl Golley Sacked After Chasing a Heckler in the Stands
Wearing the captain's armband is an honour and brings certain responsibilities to he or she who wears it. Attacking heckling fans typically isn't one of said responsibilities.
In this video, spotted by 101greatgoals.com, Goole AFC captain Karl Colley was sent off in a non-league match against Coalville Town, an eventual 3-0 victory for Coalville.
Colley apparently was hearing from his own supporters as he exited and decided to take matters into his own hands, literally, and charged into the stands.
However, the Goole skipper has paid the price for his moment of madness after the club sacked him on Sunday, as BBC Sport reported.
Coalville's official Twitter account documented the entire bizarre scene:
"Goole No 5 sent off, horrible tackle on Stuart, walks off then approaches the Coalville fans in the stands and starts throwing punches!!

"He is there captain, absolutely embarrassing trying to attack fans!!!!!

"Video footage of the player running into the stands and throwing a punch, Coalville fans were just singing as he was walking off!

"I think we can safely say he's had #headloss.

"You'd of hoped Goole's No 5's punching was better than his footballing skills, unfortunately not #swingandmiss
— Coalville Town FC (@CoalvilleTownFC) January 25, 2014"
"Good to hear Goole sacked the player straight after the game.
— Coalville Town FC (@CoalvilleTownFC) January 25, 2014"
"Just like to say nothing against Goole today, handled it very well and we look forward to our home game against them, individual's fault.
