Jaxson Dart Injured, Latest Updates on Giants QB After Taking Big Hit vs. Rams

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart left Monday night's game against the Los Angeles Rams in the first quarter after taking a big hit in the pocket.

He suffered a left knee injury and was taken to the locker room after staying down on the field for some time before walking off under his own power.

Dart was eventually ruled out of the game with a knee injury, although general manager Joe Schoen had a positive outlook:

As a rookie in 2025, Dart provided excitement and hope for a struggling franchise. He took over the reins of the offense in Week 4 and completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions in 12 starts. He also rushed for 487 yards and nine touchdowns.

The No. 25 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft has unfortunately taken some big hits, though, and one of them led to a concussion against the Chicago Bears last Nov. 16 that cost him the next two games.

ESPN's Jordan Raanan provided the details: "Dart took a hard hit on a fumble in the third quarter, getting hit from the side as he ran by a defensive lineman tracking back to make the play. His head hit the ground, and he got up slowly, eventually walking to the sideline after remaining on the field for a few seconds on his knees. Dart returned to the game the following drive for two plays and then went to the blue medical tent in between quarters. He walked slowly into the locker room afterward with a trainer. The first-round pick was ruled out later in the fourth quarter."

Dart is the present and future in New York as the Giants look to break a malaise that's seen the team post losing records 11 times in 13 seasons.

New York does have a solid backup quarterback though in Jameis Winston, who led the offense to success last season against the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions while Dart was out.

Over those two starts, Winston threw for 567 yards and two touchdowns (two interceptions) while adding a rushing touchdown as well as a receiving score on a trick play in the Detroit game.
