Kylian Mbappé Leaves Nike, Signs Endorsement Contract with On to Lead Brand's Soccer Expansion

Kylian Mbappé's 20-year run with Nike is over.

The international soccer star announced Friday on Instagram that he has joined On and left the Swoosh.

"I still dream of playing football," he wrote. "… I have followed this dream for as long as I can remember. Once again it has led me to one of the biggest changes in my life. Now, I find myself surrounded by innovators who dream of the same things I do. … Dream On."

Adam Crafton of The Athletic noted Mbappé had been with Nike since he was just eight years old in 2006.

On released a statement that said Mbappé "will be at the heart of On's football journey, uniting one of football's defining players with one of sportswear's most innovative brands" as a "global ambassador."

For his part, Mbappé said, "From the beginning, what drew me to On was the opportunity to build something entirely new together that will help shape tomorrow's game. I want to bring my experience and perspective into what we create, push what's possible through innovation, and always stay true to the joy of football. We have a shared dream, and this is only the beginning."

There are few bigger names in the entire sport for On to turn toward as a global ambassador of its soccer division, as Mbappé is already a World Cup champion, two-time World Cup Golden Boot winner and five-time Ligue 1 Player of the Year at just 27 years old.

He can now add the face of On's soccer expansion to that resume.
