Final Predictions for Recruits Committing at 2014 Army All American Bowl

Alex SimsJan 3, 2014

Several 5-star recruits announced their commitment decisions at the Under Armour All-American Game Thursday—and now a new wave of blue chip prospects will make their declarations at the Army All-American Bowl.

A select group of highly touted recruits will make their decisions during the game, leaving fans and coaches on edge for this Saturday's contest.

Running back Joe Mixon, cornerback Marshon Lattimore and defensive tackle Matt Elam highlight a stacked group of players set to announce.

We'll take a look at nine top prospects and predict where they will pledge Saturday.

Note: All rankings are based on the 247Sports Composite Ratings, unless otherwise noted.

Joe Mixon

1 of 9

Considering: Wisconsin, Oklahoma, UCLA

The nation's No. 1 all-purpose back, 5-star Joe Mixon is one of the top uncommitted offensive players remaining in the 2014 class.

He has three great choices remaining in Wisconsin, Oklahoma and USC. All three programs have produced outstanding and prolific running backs in recent years and Mixon could easily be the next at either program.

His 247Sports crystal ball gives OU the slight edge over UCLA, but the Bruins have been trending upward late in the process.

The Bruins parted ways with running backs coach Steve Broussard, who, according to Scout.com's David Woods (insider subscription), failed to make a connection with Mixon.

With Broussard gone, UCLA's status with Mixon seemed to improve. With the Bruins hot late, don't be surprised if this Oakley, Calif., native heads to Westwood.

Prediction: UCLA

Marshon Lattimore

2 of 9

Considering: Ohio State, Alabama

Can Nick Saban pull the No. 1 player in the state of Ohio away from Urban Meyer?

That's the question involving 4-star cornerback Marshon Lattimore, who will decide between Alabama and Ohio State.

The short answer: not likely.

The Glenville product has been perceived as an Ohio State lean throughout his recruitment and the Buckeyes have already taken verbal commitments from two of the state's top three players.

Expect Lattimore to make it 3-for-3, particularly with 5-star corner Tony Brown now committed to the Crimson Tide and the top player at the position, Marlon Humphrey likely to join him.

Prediction: Ohio State

Nyles Morgan

3 of 9

Considering: Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss

Notre Dame is pushing hard to keep 4-star Nyles Morgan, the No. 3 inside linebacker in the nation, in the midwest.

The Crete, Ill., native received Notre Dame's "Pot of Gold," a 477-letter overture representing the program's 477 draft picks.

His 247Sports crystal ball projects him to follow the rainbow to South Bend, where he would join Jaylon Smith—the No. 1 outside linebacker from 2013.

Morgan already expressed interest, as reported by 247Sports' Steve Wiltfong, in joining Smith at Notre Dame, and it'd me a major shock if he didn't do so.

Prediction: Notre Dame

Frank Iheanacho

4 of 9

Considering: Oregon, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Missouri, LSU

Texas A&M pulled in one highly touted receiver, 5-star Speedy Noil, at the Under Armour All-American Game and could be bringing in another at the Army All-American Bowl.

Frank Iheanacho, a 4-star out of Houston, will decide between a top five of A&M, Oregon, Arkansas, Missouri and LSU.

The 5'10", 176-pound Noil was a bit of a surprise, picking the Aggies over LSU, and he'd make an excellent pair with the 6'7", 220-pound Iheanacho.

The two would also have a talented quarterback set to throw to them, 5-star Kyle Allen, who will be joining Iheanacho in the Army All-American Bowl.

All signs point to Iheanacho heading to College Station, as 247Sports' JC Schuburtt tweeted recently, though Oregon is the other likely destination.

Prediction: Texas A&M

Bryce Dixon

5 of 9

Considering: UCLA, USC

Bryce Dixon, the No. 2 tight end in the nation, will be heading to Los Angeles—it's just a matter of which program.

The Ventura, Calif., native is a versatile receiver who can play out in the slot or in at tight end.

It appears as though he'll be heading to Westwood, particularly after his lead recruiter at USC, Ed Orgeron, left the program.

His 247Sports crystal ball projects him to UCLA, and if he goes, the Bruins could be in for an outstanding day at the Army All-American game.

Prediction: UCLA

Brian Wallace

6 of 9

Considering: Alabama, Arkansas

Alabama's offensive line struggles in Thursday night's Sugar Bowl made it clear that the Crimson Tide could use some help up front.

Bringing in Brian Wallace, the No. 14 offensive tackle in the country, would certainly be a good step for UA.

However, another UA, Arkansas, would also love to bring in the St. Louis native.

There's a definite chance that the Razorbacks could surprise and haul in Wallace—but for now, Alabama looks like the favorite, as seen on Wallace's crystal ball.

Still, don't be shocked if he joins Bret Bielema's club in Fayetteville.

Prediction: Alabama

Jamil Kamara

7 of 9

Considering: Virginia, Wisconsin, Pittsburgh

Virginia has an impressive 2014 class building up, even despite its 2-10 finish this season.

The Cavaliers already have commitments from two of the top 10 players in the nation, defensive tackle Andrew Brown and safety Quin Blanding.

At the Army All-American Bowl, the already stellar class could become even better if they bring in 4-star receiver Jamil Kamara.

The Virginia Beach native is the No. 10 athlete in the nation according to 247Sports and recently named UVA as his slight leader.

Look for him to follow Brown and Blanding to Charlottesville.

Prediction: Virginia

Matt Elam

8 of 9

Considering: Alabama, Kentucky

At 6'5", 350 pounds, Matt Elam will be a huge commitment for either Kentucky or Alabama, both literally and figuratively.

The Elizabethtown, Ky., native is almost a must-have for UK, which is amid a fervent rebuilding push behind new head coach Mark Stoops.

Recently, Steve Jones of the The Courier-Journal broke down Elam's recruitment, saying that UK likes its chances with Elam and that quarterback commit Drew Barker believes the big defensive tackle will be a Wildcat:

"

As for Elam, he told The Courier-Journal on Monday that he had no idea where he was going to pick but that he would be ready to make his commitment on Saturday. The folks around UK feel very confident about their chances. UK commitment Drew Barker, who is playing in the Army game as well, told me he thinks Elam will pick the Cats, too.

"

Look for the 4-star to stay in-state and join Barker in Lexington.

Prediction: Kentucky

Elisha Shaw

9 of 9

Considering: Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida State, Georgia

Elisha Shaw is one of the biggest mysteries heading into his announcement.

The 4-star defensive tackle from Tucker, Ga., has been long perceived to be leaning toward Georgia, as seen in his crystal ball predictions.

However, several other schools still remain on the table, most notably Alabama.

He has excellent upside at 6'4", 298 pounds and could very well be headed to the Bulldogs. However, the Crimson Tide can never be counted out.

With it likely down to those two, Georgia still looks like the slight favorite.

Prediction: Georgia
