DeAndre Jordan Stars in Witty, New SportsCenter Commercial
Welcome to the club, DeAndre.
ESPN dropped a hilarious new "This is SportsCenter" commercial, featuring the Los Angeles Clippers big man, DeAndre Jordan, where they poke fun at the show's Top 10 Plays segment.
"Only the best of the best are featured in the Top 10," anchor Stuart Scott says. "It's a pretty exclusive club."
Presumably, after a night of murdering Brandon Knight look-alikes and shameless, "Did I just do that?" smiles, Jordan is seen trying to get past the velvet ropes of a club reserved exclusively for those who make an appearance on SportsCenter's Top 10.
Behind the door, you hear the club's music bumping, and you're left to paint your own picture of what accompanies those thunderous tunes. Judging by the urgency in Jordan's voice as the bouncer scans his list, you could tell he envisioned crowds of girls twerking, drinks coming at him from every direction and DJs wrecking decks.
"Jordan with a 'J,' " he explains, a look of complete longing on his face. "I was on [the Top 10] last night."
Still sporting his Clippers jersey, Jordan is clearly thrilled to find out there isn't a dress code, as the bouncer grants him entry. Clad with a big smile, Jordan makes his way into the club only to find out that exclusive can also mean empty.
There are no super models doing the macarena or bartenders pouring fancy multicolored beverages. There is no house music blaring, setting the tone for what promises to be an unforgettable time.
There is only the UConn Huskies mascot, relaxing in a waiting-room chair. A show dog, having its hair straightened. And a member of the Texas Longhorns marching band, the source of once-promising noise, banging on his bass drum, like Doug Funnie on a trash can.
In an attempt to enjoy himself, Jordan strikes up a conversation with a kid from Warbrook high school, who gained access thanks to a full-court buzzer beater. Jordan appears less than thrilled but mostly confused.
"The rest of us?" Scott asks. "We'll never know what it's like to be a part of that inner circle."
After watching this, I'm not sure we'd want to. Not unless you're into chillaxing with mascots, scrawny high school ballers and lumberjacks who never leave home without a chainsaw.
