RVD Must Feud with Alberto Del Rio for WWE to Get the Most out of His Return
Three weeks from his grand return to WWE at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view, Rob Van Dam is impressing many fans.
Certainly, Van Dam's dynamic in-ring performances have helped put to rest memories of his dismal TNA run.
Maybe it's the change in scenery—how motivated can anyone be in an under-performing company like TNA, anyway? Or maybe the star sees this second WWE stint as his last chance to cement his wrestling legacy and is thus trying extra hard.

Regardless, he's performing better than he has in years. His lengthy TV match with Chris Jericho on Raw two weeks ago was, in particular, dazzling.
He's receiving loud reactions from the crowds too, partly thanks to WWE's phenomenal marketing in the run up to Money in the Bank. The company promoted Van Dam as a major star and behaved like his return was a huge deal The wrestler got off to a terrific start.
But how can the company continue to capitalize on his momentum?
Well, how about putting him in a feud with current World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio?
Not only would this give Van Dam a high-profile role and keep him busy, it would help turn around Del Rio's abysmal title run.
The achingly bland Del Rio is struggling in his current position, for sure.
His character is stale, his promos are deathly dull and the supposedly prestigious title he holds has been rendered little more than an afterthought in recent times.
The recent suspension of manager Ricardo Rodriguez—the true star of the duo—has only served to stress the wrestler's gaping flaws.
Del Rio just simply isn't clicking as a top star—that's been obvious for almost two years now—but WWE can't seem to accept it.
It's probably too late for Del Rio to turn things around and have a hugely successful title run, but a feud with Van Dam could at least salvage something decent out of it. Van Dam, mercifully, ending Del Rio's title run would also been a boon his career, as well as the company.
If anyone can make the World Heavyweight Championship feel relevant again, it's Van Dam. Done correctly, the performer could have a great and credible title run and become the fully fledged main event wrestler he never managed to be in his first WWE stint.
Of course, before he gets a title push, he may have to agree to work more dates. As WrestleZone notes, the star is only working a part-time schedule. This could be a real problem if WWE is intending to give him a major push (both titles are usually defended regularly on the house show circuit).
Regardless of this potential issue, though, let's hope the company follows through with Van Dam's push and puts him against Del Rio at a future pay-per-view.
How else is WWE to get the most out of the former ECW star's return? He needs to be placed in a major, high-profile feud on television. Anything else would be squandering him.
