Updated Full Card Predictions for SummerSlam
Only two matches are official for SummerSlam 2013 so far.
WWE has hinted at how the rest of the card will look with the feuds, matches and tension seen on Raw and SmackDown recently. This week should see the smoke dissipate, giving fans a clearer look at the clashes we can expect to see on August 18.
CM Punk taking on Brock Lesnar and Daniel Bryan challenging John Cena are set, that leaves about five or six matches left to fill out the rest of the show.
The last few SummerSlams featured seven, seven, six and eight matches respectively. With limited spots remaining, some big names could be left off. Sheamus, Big Show and Jack Swagger could find themselves on the pre-show or not in action at all.
From two former allies colliding to the world title match, here is the predicted card for SummerSlam.
Note that no World Heavyweight Championship match is included as that match is set up on this Friday's SmackDown and I've tried to avoid revealing spoilers.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Big E. Langston
1 of 5Big E. Langston serves as the manifestation of AJ Lee's wrath when he takes on Dolph Ziggler.
After breaking up with AJ, Ziggler has collided with her muscle-bound pal several times. Expect Langston to have a big moment win or lose in his first pay-per-view as a singles competitor.
WWE will have the established names provide the foundation for the card, but the midcard should be loaded with rising talent like Langston.
The pairing means Ziggler is out of the world title picture for now and that he'll have to be hyper-aware of where AJ is at all times. She figures to play a major role in the outcome.
Damien Sandow vs. Cody Rhodes
2 of 5Both former members of Team Rhodes Scholars have seen plenty of airtime since their public split at Money in the Bank.
Cody Rhodes has shifted into a fan favorite as he seeks revenge against Damien Sandow. The amount of time WWE has spent on this feud leads one to believe that we will see at least its first big explosion at SummerSlam.
Putting the Money in the Bank briefcase on the line instantly adds sizzle. With how much their feud has been centered around that case, that's a distinct possibility.
Mark Henry and The Usos vs. The Shield
3 of 5WWE is not being subtle about where it's going with this feud.
After The Shield attacked Mark Henry, Henry has joined forces with The Usos in unofficial and official action. All of this seems like prep work for a big six-man tag team match at SummerSlam.
This pairing allows WWE to toss six guys into one match and make use of Henry while continuing to aim the spotlight on The Shield. It also keeps The Usos' feud with The Shield going while adding freshness to their battle.
Kane vs. Bray Wyatt
4 of 5Bray Wyatt wants Kane to follow the buzzards and to join his family.
Unlike Erick Rowan and Luke Harper, Kane is too strong-minded to fall under Wyatt's spell so easy. Expect him to resist the initiation, resulting in Wyatt's pay-per-view debut.
WWE could have Kane team up with Sheamus or Miz and go into battle with the whole family as well. However, from the Wyatt Family mauling Kane during their debut to Wyatt continuing to mention him, this seems like a personal battle.
Randy Orton vs. Rob Van Dam
5 of 5With fans giddy to see Rob Van Dam back in action, WWE would be wise to make sure to get him on one of the biggest shows of the year.
Randy Orton offers a big name to battle and a man who is among the most reliable in producing great matches. Orton doesn't have much else going on anyway. Since dispatching of Big Show at Extreme Rules and serving as Daniel Bryan's stepping stone, Orton is without a clear direction.
Speculation will surround him regarding when and where he cashes in his Money in the Bank briefcase, but he needs some scheduled action as well.
WWE's other option for Van Dam is Big Show, but it's not clear when he will return. Orton is available now to get a storyline started.
