Real Madrid Transfer Rumours: Club Should Wait for Gareth Bale to Force Move

Rob GoldbergJul 28, 2013

Real Madrid have done their part to bring Gareth Bale to Spain. While it will still require work to complete a transfer, it is now the player's hands.

According to SportsCenter, the La Liga club made an enormous offer for the 24-year-old player:

This is actually right in line with the value Tottenham placed on their best player, according to Tom Hopkinson of Mirror Football. Despite actually reaching the quoted price, the club is still not ready to let him go so easily.

While this is not what Real Madrid want to hear, it seems as though Bale will do the rest of the work to make sure he eventually completes the move.

Darren Lewis of Mirror Football reports that Tottenham's refusal to even consider an offer is causing problems between the player and club chairman Daniel Levy:

"

Bale’s camp are angry that Levy is reneging on a promise made to their man last year. They claim Levy told Bale when the winger signed his new deal last year that he would be allowed to leave if Madrid moved in for him this summer.

Bale is understood to have only signed on the strength of that “guarantee.”

"

Obviously, the midfielder is not happy about being trapped on his current squad.

Bale is also already interested in joining Real Madrid, according to Miguel Delaney of ESPN:

"

Bale has also now made up his mind on leaving. Aside from his long-held aspiration to play for Real, the 24-year-old feels it is finally time to experience regular football in the Champions League rather than potentially infrequent forays with Spurs.

"

With this in mind, it will not be up to Madrid to increase the bid to convince Tottenham to sell. It will be up to Bale to convince his boss that he will not play for his current team.

If the young player holds out or even threatens it, the squad would have no choice but to complete a transfer for as much money as possible.

This would be the perfect situation for Real if it happens. Money is not truly an issue, but the club needs to do anything in its power to bring in the top players in the world. Bale would fit this description after being named the Premier League Player of the Year last season.

Additionally, this transfer would help Real Madrid compete with Barcelona, who won La Liga last season and made a huge splash by signing Neymar from Brazil. Bale could be expected to make an even bigger impact after succeeding in one of the toughest leagues in the world.

At this point, Real already did its job by showing its interesting and making more than an acceptable offer to Tottenham. All it should have to do is wait for the pieces to unfold as Bale forces his way onto the Spanish club.
