British Open Leaderboard 2013: Day 3 Real-Time Updates for All Leaders
After two competitive rounds of golf at Muirfield, Saturday is moving day in the Open Championship as players attempt to move into contention prior to Sunday's final round. There are already several top stars atop the leaderboard as well as some unexpected names, so the third round is vital in determining which players could potentially take this tournament.
Muirfield hasn't been too monstrous yet, but it can turn at any moment, so the players who are vying for the Claret Jug must be mindful of how the course plays moving forward. Sunday's fourth and final round is obviously of the utmost importance, but the third round could ultimately decide things when it's all said and done.

As is always the case, there is plenty of focus on Tiger Woods heading into the third round of the Open Championship. Tiger hasn't won a major championship since taking the 2008 U.S. Open, but he has had a strong 2013 season with four victories already under his belt. Some unfortunate circumstances caused him to fall short at The Masters and he played his way out of contention at the U.S. Open, however, Woods is still in the mix at Muirfield.
Tiger will need to play a bit more consistently in order to surge past the competition, though. The biggest issue for Woods in the second round seemed to be putting. He narrowly missed a number of potential birdie opportunities, so he'll need to cash in when those chances arise on Saturday. If Woods figures out a way to do that, then he will be a force to be reckoned with on Sunday.
Lee Westwood
With top European contenders such as Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald and Justin Rose scuffling, much of the pressure is now on Lee Westwood's shoulders. Westwood has been among the top golfers in the world for the past several years, and he has finished third or better in every major championship, but he simply hasn't been able to break through and win one. Perhaps that will change this weekend at Muirfield.
Westwood is a very steady player, and things normally don't seem to rattle him, but he has trouble closing the deal. He tends to be a bit of a streaky player, and that was on full display in the second round. Westwood looked great for stretches as he went on a birdie binge, but he fell off near the end of the round and registered a few bogeys. If the Westwood who showed up early in the second round is present in the third round, then this may be his tournament to lose.
Phil Mickelson will likely go down as one of the greatest golfers of all time regardless of whether or not he wins another major in his career. However, adding an Open Championship to his resume would certainly bolster it in a huge way. Lefty is within striking distance heading into the third round, and he has been playing with a great deal of confidence in recent weeks. In fact, Mickelson is coming off a Scottish Open win, which should help his mentality this weekend.
At the same time, Mickelson is probably still shaking his head with regards to the U.S. Open. Mickelson finished second in that tournament for the sixth time in his career as Rose ultimately beat him out. Mickelson also finished second in the British Open back in 2011, so he knows how it feels to come close. With that said, Mickelson is playing solid golf right now, and he needs to take advantage of that.
