Mark Henry Responds to the Shield Attack on Raw
The Hall of Pain, established in 2011 by Mark Henry, has included many reluctant superstars, unable to gain the upper-hand in a fisticuffs showdown. Randy Orton, Kane, Big Show and The Great Khali are a few in the group of beatdown victims.
This Hall of Pain led to a resurrected career for Henry, winning the World Heavyweight Championship against Randy Orton at Night of Champions in 2011 after 15 years in the business.
Since then, Mark Henry has unfortunately been on the receiving end of nagging injuries, even causing him to prematurely end his world title run. However, Henry has still impressed the audience as a monster heel, engaging in feuds against Daniel Bryan, Big Show, Sheamus and Ryback. Despite this, he has been quietly drifting away from the title scene.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Until his "retirement" speech.
We all know—and positively reacted—about his memorable swerve, which led to him vying for the only thing that he has admittedly regretted not achieving during his 17 year WWE tenure. With his actions, Henry managed to receive a WWE Championship opportunity at Money in the Bank. The match unquestionably did not live up to the hype, and Cena left the ring victorious.
This brings us to Mark Henry cutting a promo about the match on Raw. Surprisingly, we hear The Shield's music hit, and they returned to their roots of what got them over in the first place—gang attacks.
The Shield commented, via an exclusive WWE.com interview, on why they chose Mark Henry as their most recent hit.
"He ain't hungry. He's got no heart. You're not gonna get another shot at the WWE Championship, because you don't deserve another shot at the WWE Championship. There's not enough time these days for a guy like you... an old dog that belongs on the porch.
"
A determined Mark Henry responded to his attack via Twitter:
"This goes out to the wwe universe [and] anyone that knows the shield. I will hunt you down like dogs, if it takes me forever you a-- is mine."
This is a very interesting turn of events leading into SummerSlam. Despite the ideas going around for The Shield, most likely continuing their feud with The Usos, this could be another opportunity to reinvent Mark Henry yet another time.
Does Mark Henry turn face? Well, it was recently reported that the WWE has talked about turning Mark Henry face, and the talks were very high after his hiatus following the Extreme Rules match against Sheamus.
As long as he keeps his dominant, aggressive, no-nonsense edge, Mark Henry may be a better candidate to feud with Dean Ambrose's United States championship instead of Christian. It hurts me to say this—because I am a big fan of Christian's work and an advocate of him as a babyface—he is just not over since his return. In fact, he shamefully claws and scratches a babyface reaction from the crowd by starting claps, but that is about it. I definitely can see WWE Creative counting their losses on his face run, turning him heel sooner than later.
This is why Mark Henry—who is incredibly over—would make a better opponent at this time against Dean Ambrose.
