WWE Money in the Bank 2013: Breaking Down Event's Most Compelling Storylines

Jun 8, 2018

The 2013 edition of WWE’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view is one of the most anticipated shows of the year, and the excitement surrounding the most compelling storylines is through the roof.

With huge returns and character changes possible, all of the following storyline swerves will be the talk of the WWE Universe on Monday.

Brock Lesnar is one of the biggest stars in the WWE today, and there is a chance that he could be the seventh member of the All-Stars Money in the Bank ladder match, filling in for the injured Kane.

According to WWE.com, the attack from the Wyatt family on Kane will keep him out of the ladder match, and the company is left to figure out who will fill the final spot open-ended. That has set the stage for the possible return of Lesnar.

Instead of having Lesnar enter the match and try to win the briefcase, booking the Beast Incarnate to attack only CM Punk and put him out of the match via a devastating spot through a ladder is the smartest decision.

Not only does the interference justify a Punk loss, but it also sets up the SummerSlam match everyone wants to see.

Randy Orton’s Heel Turn Coming to Fruition?

The WWE Universe has been pulling for a Randy Orton heel turn for well over a year, and Sunday’s Money in the Bank PPV from Philadelphia could be the perfect place for the ultimate swerve.

After Orton wins the WWE Championship contract ladder match and John Cena is left decimated by Mark Henry, it will be RKO that hits the ring and uses the heel finisher of punting his opponent’s head to steal the title and cement his character change.

With Orton being handed clean pinfall and submission losses on television over the last several weeks, attacking the face Daniel Bryan and Kane and claiming he would cash in on Cena if he had the opportunity, the stage has been set for an amazing storyline.

Dolph Ziggler’s Face Turn Continues in Philadelphia?

Last month’s Payback PPV featured a great double-turn between Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio, but with the crowd still confused about whether to cheer for Ziggler or not, Money in the Bank is the perfect time to cement the change for casual fans.

Using Big E Langston and/or AJ Lee to create a distraction that inadvertently causes Ziggler his shot at the title would create even more sympathy for The Showoff and could lead to the breakup of the trio.

While watching Ziggler lose again will hurt all the fans that hoped he would have a long run with the title, the change to a face character will help Ziggler in the long run and will ensure he is back in the world heavyweight championship scene soon enough.
