Ashes Series Breakdown

The bitter rivalry between England and Australia has long captivated the sport of cricket, and it's taking center stage again in this year's Ashes Series.

The five-match scenario starts on July 10.

This year, England have the home-field advantage with all five tests being played on their soil. However, it alternates between Australia and England each year.

That didn’t stop the English from taking the 2010-11 Ashes, though. They won the series in Australia for the first time in 24 years, taking down the home country.

If England can defend their crown, they'll make history for the event. Australia pulled away in the 1990s with a big streak of series wins, but England will tie them with 31 series victories if they can pull another one out this summer.

Australia will be dealing with some coaching turnover leading up to the event. The national team decided to sack Mickey Arthur and replaced him with Darren Lehmann in late June, giving the Australians virtually no time to adjust.

Surely, it's just another one of many storylines heading into what should be some of the best cricket of the year.
