Keys to Victory for Pacers: Turnovers, Defense
The Pacers have done a relatively good job of putting the ball in the hoop this series (shooting 46 percent from the field), but it's been hard to stop the freight train that is the Heat offense.
The Heat have shot 48 percent from the floor in the series. What's more, they got it going from beyond the arc in Game 5 (7-of-18), which is truly scary considering LeBron and Dwyane Wade's ability to drive and dish.
It also doesn't help when you turn the ball over all the time. The Pacers committed 17 turnovers in Game 5. In the Game 1 loss in Miami, they committed 20 turnovers. They had trouble taking care of the ball during the regular season (ranked 22nd in the NBA in turnovers per contest), but they are surely better than this.
Josh Pacheco of ESPN 1420 Honolulu tweeted after the game:
Key to Victory for Heat: Perimeter Shooting
Whether it's dropping dimes from beyond the arc or players like Udonis Haslem knocking down mid-range jumpers, the Heat are best when they are converting opportunities off of drives from James and Wade.
The Heat entered Game 5 shooting 33.8 percent from beyond the arc in the series, but finally got it going on Thursday night, scoring 21 points off of three-pointers. Haslem posted 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting.
InsideHoops.com tweeted during the game:
Haslem shot 31 percent from mid-range during the regular season, via NBA.com. He's shooting 40.8 percent from mid-range in the playoffs.
You can only do so much to contain LeBron. When Miami starts hitting shots from the perimeter, watch out. The Heat ranked second in the NBA in three-point percentage during the regular season.
