These Are The Boston Breakers: Stacy Bishop

Each day, Todd Civin will present a different member of the Boston Breakers Soccer Team as part of his "These are The Boston Breakers" series.
Stacy Bishop is one of the more unheralded players for the Boston Breakers, but fans have loved what Bishop brings to the field thus far after 3 games in the Breakers inaugural season in the Women's Professional Soccer League.
Bishop was drafted by the Breakers with the 69th pick over all in the 2009 Womens Professional League draft.
Her international experience consisted of play for the U-23 National Team Player Pool in 2007-2008.
After graduating from Florida, the Lady Gator led the Central Florida Krush to the W League Final Four in 2005. She took for game north where she played for the Jersey Sky Blue in 2007 before hourneying south again where she was named to the W League All-Eastern Conference team while playing forthe Tampa Bay Hellenic in 2008.
At Florida, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Health Education and Behavior/Health Promotion in December of 2007, she earned the following honors.
- NSCAA Academic All-American in 2006-2007
- ESPN the Magazine in 2006
- A member of the 2006-2007 All-SEC First Team
- SEC Tournament Most Valuable Player
Stacy scored three goals and four assists through the three matches of the SEC Tournament, including heading in the game-winning goal versus then No. 13 Georgia in the final. She twice scored two goals in a match in SEC tournament play in 2007; once vs. Kentucky in SEC Tournament opening round and once vs. rival Alabama.
She lead UF in goals (10), points (30) and assists (10) in '07 and scored five of her 10 2007 goals off of headers. In the final SEC standings (all matches) she ranked tied for third in points (30), fourth in points per match (1.20 ppg), tied for fourth in goals and third in assists (10). She also ranked sixth in shots on net (66).
For her college career she started all 50 matches and earned semi final honors for the Women's 2007 Missouri Athletics Club’s Hermann Trophy, released by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in early December. She was on of twenty candidates for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award and spent the summer of 2007 r playing for W-League Jersey Sky Blue team while being named a member of the 2007 SEC Academic Honor Roll.
She actually started her college career at LSU where she played her freshmana and sophomore years. After sitting out a year due to SEC transfer rules she moved on to U of Florida.
While at LSU, she earned All-SEC second team (2004) and led SEC in shots (92), third in points (25), fourth in assists (7) and fifth in goals (9) in 2004 In 2004 and 2003, Stacey she was named to the all Lousiana Women's Soccer team by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association and was named the 2003 LSWA Freshman of the Year.
She was named the LSU Most Valuable Player in 2004 and the LSU Freshman of the Year and Offensive MVP (2003)
Her LSU highlight was in the second match of her college career when she scored five goals versus Jackson State (8/31/03).

As a high school athlete, Stacy earned honors as the Dairy Farmers Florida Class 2A Player of the Year (2003) and earned Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) Class 2A First Team All-State honors in 2001, '02 and '03 while at Land O'Lakes High School.
- Set the Pasco County all-time scoring record by accumulating 192 goals during her high school career.
- Named unanimous Pasco County Player of the Year by the Sunshine Athletic Conference, the Tampa Tribune and the St. Petersburg Times from 2000-2003
- Won 2003 2A State Championship title
- Named First-Team All-State from 2001-2003
On a personal note, Stacy says her proudest life moment was when her brother returned from Iraq. She scored a hat trick upon his return then she scored the winning goal in OT against Georgia the first day he saw her in a University of Florida uniform. A nice gift for her brother of course.
She grew up on a farm and had her own pony named Cheyenne. She is also a Sioux Indian.
The Breakers next game is Saturday, April 25th in Chicago vs. the Chicago Red Stars. The game begins at 8:30 PM. The Red Stars feature Carli Lloyd (Rutgers) and Lindsay Tarpley (UNC). The team is covered by Bleacher Report writer John Howell.
Their next home game is Saturday, May 2nd at 7:00 PM. Early season play shows these as two of the top teams in the 7 team WPS.
