Manchester United Star Cristiano Ronaldo Rejects Real Madrid Rumours

Yoosof FarahApr 6, 2009

Manchester United and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has reiterated his desire to stay at Old Trafford, amid growing speculation of a move to Real Madrid.

In world football these days, that phrase is becoming far too cliché. It seems that the whole world is very bored by this transfer saga.

Ronaldo, the 2008 FIFA World Player of the Year (according to English newspapers The Daily Mail and The Guardian) had apparently already agreed a £75 million move to La Liga giants Real Madrid.

If you didn't already know this, well done for doing your best to stay away from such a soap-opera style, melodramatic transfer saga that literally will be never-ending.

And if the aforementioned wasn't the case but you didn't know about that news, then all I have to say is... Where have you been recently? The mainstream media will try to shove it up your arse just so you know what the latest on the Ronaldo story is.

Anyway, you might think this article is a diversion from all the "breaking news" reports about this transfer stuff; a refreshing piece lamenting how boring it is for the media to blab on about something no one really wants to care about anymore.

Well, if that's what you're thinking, you are wrong, sorry.

The reason this story always has so much success (come on, you really think media all over the world would continue publishing these "updates" if no-one cared about them?) is because people, whether they like it or not, appear to have some sort of innate drive to find out what Ronaldo has to say on his future.

They may say it's boring and go: "Blah blah, who gives a sh*t about what's happening with that diving, cheating little Portuguse w****r", but clearly these people care as this latest story (that they have just read) brings them to their computers commenting.

And for that reason, kill me if you must, but I am going to tell you (courtesy of my good friend SkySportsNews) the latest Cristiano Ronaldo has to say on his future.

The winger said: "I am happy at this club [Manchester United]. I think it is the right club."

He went on to talk about this 'rough treatment' he receives, saying it's not a reason for him to leave, and that it's been the same for all of his five-year spell so far at Old Trafford.

"It has always been like that," he added.

"It is only normal this season that the defenders have kicked me to try and stop me. It is just normal."

Sorry readers, but I won't bother going on anymore. I can see you all ready and waiting with your axes, ready to kill Yoosof Farah for providing the same old boring news story.

But just to finish off, here's a little something for you Liverpool fans from the Portuguese maestro himself:

"We [Manchester United] are the best team in England. We have shown that by being top of the table. That speaks for itself.

"We respect all our opponents, but if we carry on winning, we will win the title again. We have a chance to win everything this season."

Being a die-hard Manchester United fan (although I'm still Gillingham 'til I die!), for once I fully agree with Cristiano Ronaldo.

But it's clear it can be put as a little bit of an understatement when it's said that Ronaldo isn't the most popular with Liverpool fans. Or Chelsea fans for that matter, and Arsenal fans as well.

In fact, I think the same might just go for all other Premier League team fans. Although, I wonder what Real Madrid fans think of him?

In any case, before you rush into the comment threads at seeing what another 'Ronaldo-hater' has to say about this "god-like" man, calm down, all you Cristiano Ronaldo lovers.

I don't hate Ronaldo, I think he's a truly magnificent, unbelievably talented young player with a superb, electrifying, totally mind-boggling array of amazing skills.

All I am effectively saying is that this "BREAKING NEWS: Cristiano Ronaldo To Join Real Madrid in World Record Transfer Deal" saga is becoming all too cliché in the world of modern-day association football.
