Germany Vs Wales: Eight Conclusions From The Match
Germany were winning 2-0. I was half-asleep not because the match was boring, but because I had been working all day. I was awake throughout the first half though. I drew a few conclusions from the match:
1. Firstly, Andreas Beck of Hoffenheim is awesome. Critics could argue and say that he misplaced plenty of passes, yet he is a young lad. The lad's energy levels are almost as high as Lahm's. He loves to go forward like Lahm as well.
If Low keeps faith with Beck, he could turn out to be a great right back. (We do have Lahm, but he mostly plays as a left back) Germany fans could argue all day, but nothing will make me change my mind about Beck.

2. Secondly, Michael Ballack and Per Mertesacker are indispensable. Ballack can misplace passes for Chelsea all day, but for Germany he shows his true colours. His brilliant goal made way for last night's victory. He passes well and plays like Gerrard does for Liverpool when he plays for Germany.
Mertesacker on the other hand is a rock. Nothing gets past "Merte"; last night he cleared everything that came his way.
3. Thirdly, Germany have one indispensable striker and that is obviously Miroslav Klose. Without him, Germany were unconvincing upfront. Podolski was busy providing excellent crosses while Mario Gomez was busy wasting chances. He was sorely missed (especially by me!)
4. The next conclusion is about Mario Gomez. In all truth, I admire Gomez and I couldn't believe that the fans had booed him of the pitch against Liechtenstein. However, it's high time he sees a psychiatrist.
"Super Mario" scores goals out of nothing for Stuttgart, while for Germany he fails no matter how many chances you give him.
5. Lukas Podolski created chances for Mario Gomez but failed to get on the end of balls sent into the penalty area by the midfielders. Podolski in my eyes makes a brilliant midfielder judging by his crosses but not necessarily a brilliant centre-forward.
It's time for "Prnz Poldi" to become "King Poldi'- in other words time for him to score against good teams. It's also about time that he changes his attitude.
6. Frings and Rolfes are fighting for a spot in midfield and I personally think Rolfes can replace Frings. I am an admirer of Frings but Rolfes really impressed me last night. He ran the midfield properly and did a decent job. He went forward as well but one thing he failed to do was to break through into the final third of the pitch in order to pass for his teammates.
7."Der Hammer" should share his title with Ballack. Hitzlsperger's free-kick was beautiful, it just failed to find the net. Ballack's powerful shot had as much power as the hammer's, except that it found the back of the net.
8. Finally, Schweinsteiger's hair is brown again. Brown suits him much more than silver!
Well that's about it. The Bundesliga and the Champions League resume this week. Germany remain undefeated in away World Cup qualifying games. Hopefully Mario Gomez will find the target...soon......
