My MLB Predictions

Sixty Feet, Six Inches Apr 1, 2009

Now, as I've stated before I'm not really up on MLB. I'm going to try to do better this season, and that's a promise. However, my predictions are done by the seat of my pants, and I'm sure at the end of the season everyone can sit back and have a laugh at my expense.

American League East
1. Boston
2. New York Yankees
3. Tampa Bay
4. Toronto
5. Baltimore

Give me the Red Sox here. I also think the Yanks will sneak in as the AL Wild Card. We all know about Tampa's season last year, and they are capable of repeating that success. However, I'm going with a more traditional 1-2.

American League Central
1. Minnesota
2. Chicago White Sox
3. Cleveland
4. Detroit
5. Kansas City

I'm going to be honest I don't know a whole lot about this division. Which is sad, since my newly adopted MLB team, the White Sox, resides here. I'm going with the Twins because I'm told the Sox are in a bit of a rebuilding stage, and well, I'm just not really impressed with anyone else.

American League West
1. Los Angeles Angels
2. Oakland
3. Seattle
4. Texas

I'm going with the reliable bet here. Though I always seem to find a way to be wrong about this division. Last year, I really felt that Seattle had a strong team capable of competing in the AL and we all saw how that turned out.

National League East
1. New York Mets
2. Philadelphia
3. Florida
4. Atlanta
5. Washington

I have to go with the Mets here, otherwise Thomas would probably hunt me down and kill me in my sleep. I do think it will be tough for Philly to continue their run from last season, but it is not impossible. It will be a very close finish at the top and I think these two teams will probably meet again in the NLCS.

National League Central
1. Chicago Cubs
2. St. Louis
3. Cincinatti
4. Milwaukee
5. Houston
6. Pittsburgh

I'm pretty meh on this division outside of the Cubs. I think 3-6 could probably rearrange themselves in any order by the end of the season.

National League West
1. Los Angeles Dodgers
2. Arizona
3. San Diego
4. San Francisco
5. Colorado

I'm going with the Dodgers here, but I expect Arizona will give them a good run for the division. The big question is will the division winner finally distance themselves from .500? Or will it be another year of mediocrity for the NL West?

ALDS
Boston over New York Yankees (5 games)
Minnesota over LA Angels (6 games)

NLDS
New York Mets over LA Dodgers (5 games)
Philadelphia over Chicago Cubs (7 games)

ALCS
Boston over Minnesota (6 games)

NLCS
New York Mets over Philadelphia (7 games)

World Series

Boston over New York Mets (7 games)

I'm going the reverse of Thomas on this one. I think the Mets have the firepower to get to the Series, but I don't know if they have what it takes to bring down the Red Sox in a seven game series.
