Can Arsenal Match Robin Van Persie's Ambitions?

Callum D'SouzaApr 1, 2009

Arsenal's top performer this season, Robin van Persie has said he will leave the Club if they do not start to win trophies. The Dutch ace's impressive form has attracted the attention of many clubs. The front-man is however confident that the Gunners can match his ambitions.

The 15-goal hero is also demanding up to £80,000 a week for his contract renewal. He has no doubt been a dominant force in Arsenal attack and has managed to stay fit.

He is not a player Arsenal would not like to see leave despite the fact he would bring in a hefty check which would be more than enough to lure the likes of Sergio Augero and David Villa to North London.

Arsenal have an incredibly strong chance of capturing the FA cup for the first time in four years and have a good chance of winning the Champions league.

I believe that, if van Persie forgets this contract rubbish until August and gets his head down, Arsenal should be able to win their first ever Champions League trophy.

Arsenal have a great deal of momentum with them at the moment. Their once under-performing midfield is now an experienced, mature and looking dangerous while the shackles in their defence are falling away.

With the likes of Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott, Tomas Rosicky, and Emmanuel Adebayor returning to the fray, the Arsenal squad can only get stronger.

Arsenal are set to encounter Spanish side Villarreal in the Champions league. There is certainly a different attacking atmosphere in the Champions League and Arsene Wenger has commented that his side relish UEFA matches.

I believe Arsenal should do away with the Spaniards and go up another level, receive a huge boost of momentum and become the clear cut favourites in the UEFA.

As for the FA cup, I am confident Arsenal have that secured. Although they are facing off with Chelsea in the semifinal, I think Arsenal will have the last laugh. The Gunners are a completely different team when playing for the FA cup title.

There his a whole new positive atmosphere and Arsenal seem to maintain their consistency through out the game.

So can Arsenal please their Dutch striker and win some trophies, or will Mr. van Persie get to frustrated and walk off to Barcelona with a £100,000 a week contract?
