Dimitar Berbatov Victim of Selfish Play
Dimitar Berbatov is one of the fastest rising football stars in the Premier League, but is yet to be discovered. Sir Alex Ferguson has obviously spotted the great potential of the Bulgarian striker since his Bayer Leverkusen days.
Berbatov is a player with a sublime touch and magnificent skills in football. A record-breaking transfer fee of more than £30 million was inevitable for Sir Alex Ferguson to secure Berbatov's striker position in Manchester United from Tottenham.
His recent Champions League game against Inter Milan was exceptional, with Sir Alex Ferguson stating that his performance was "fantastic." The one thing missing—and missing from the rest of Manchester United in a first leg scoreless draw with Inter—was a goal.

In fairness to Berbatov, Manchester United have some players who are bigger than the team. The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo is a few to mention. There have been a lot of chances for Ronaldo that have been waisted, from free kicks, passing, or receiving the ball.
More often than not, Berbatov had a better position to strike the ball into the net, but unfortunately, the ball hasn't been given to him.
If you come to think of it, United do not actually pass the ball to Berbatov to score goals. Most of Berbatov's goals in the current season with Manchester United are all tapped in, due to his ability to think quickly.
No wonder when Berbatov scores goals, he acknowledges the one who assisted him like when Carrick assisted Berbatov to score goals in Tottenham and Tevez's assist in a dying minute allowed him to find the back of the net.
Yet, Berbatov still has the most assists in the Premiere League, which shows that he is the most unselfish player in the modern football and certainly a good team player.
Some players has forgotten or they intentionally forget that football is being played by a team, with 11 players striving to achieve a team goal, and therefore winning the game itself is a team matter—not one that is left to an individual.
