5 Best Finishers in the WWE Right Now

Max TowleSep 28, 2012

It's all about that last move, it has to be.

Before the referee counts three, a wrestler's finishing move has the ability to sell or destroy the entire match.

There are some superstars in the WWE with absolutely killer finishers, and some whose 'piece de resistance' just doesn't ring true, whether it lacks originality, power or pop.

Here are five finishers from the current roster (according to WWE.com) that surely rank at the top of the pile in no particular order.

Agree or not, this list is intended to spark debate rather than end it.

Undertaker, Tombstone Piledriver

1 of 5

The best there was and probably the best there ever will be.

Undertaker's Tombstone Piledriver is one of the deadliest finishing moves in the game, rendering its victim helpless as they plummet to near certain defeat.

If you can kick out of the Tombstone, you're probably either Triple H or Shawn Michaels wrestling 'Taker at WrestleMania.

If not, never fear—you've just joined a list of casualties as long as it is varied.

Randy Orton, RKO

2 of 5

A glorified jumping cutter, the RKO evokes the instant impact of the Stone Cold Stunner.

The move never fails to produce a pop from crowds and is surely one of the most popular in the business.

Variations? Orton has been known to execute the RKO off the top rope, onto tables, on the entrance ramp, etc.

The effectiveness of the finisher depends on Orton's energy in the build up, requiring as much from him as from his opponent in the execution to sell.

Big Show, WMD

3 of 5

Simple, but deadly. How else would you describe the WMD?

Some have ridiculed the fact that Big Show's finisher is nothing but a punch, something that should never result in a three-count.

I'd like to hear them say the same thing after being on the end of one of Show's swinging fists.

I love its shock factor and the fact that it could come at any time. Leave the Chokeslams to Kane, Show.

Kane, Chokeslam

4 of 5

Speaking of—here is Kane and his infamous Chokeslam.

A longterm mainstay of the WWE, the Big Red Machine has become the de facto user of the move, considering Undertaker's use of other finishers and the introduction of Big Show's WMD.

As seen in the video, there is little else in the business that gets the heart pumping faster than a Chokeslam rampage.

We all imitated it when we were kids... and some of us still do.

Triple H, Pedigree

5 of 5

A double underhook facebuster, the move is now as synonymous with Hunter Hearst Helmsley as the Tombstone is with Undertaker.

The monster heel for much of the Attitude Era, Triple H has certainly delivered his finisher to a long list of unwitting victims.

From a personal standpoint, my favourite Pedigree of all time has to be that executed on Mick Foley, then Cactus Jack, at the Royal Rumble 2000.

What was special about it, you ask? Only a few hundred thumbtacks and a severely punctured face. Oh, Attitude Era, how we miss you.

What do you think are the five best finishers in the WWE today?
