Is TKO Ruining WWE's Momentum? 🤔
Here we grade a trio of notable matches from WWE's SummerSlam 2012 this past weekend.
Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H
The main event was nothing short of spectacular on Sunday at SummerSlam 2012. Brock Lesnar returned to the WWE's main stage and wreaked havoc on WWE COO Triple H in a match that lasted nearly 20 minutes. Lesnar's powerful Kimura Lock ultimately ended the match as Triple H, who suffered a broken arm, was forced to tap.
The dominance put on display by Lesnar only adds to his legacy as a feared assassin inside the ring, and develops a new rivalry with Triple H that will surely produce many more unforgettable pay-per-view matchups.
Grade: A
Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler
Two of the sport's top personalities went at it on Sunday night in what could easily have been considered the fight of the night. Both Chris Jericho and Dolph Ziggler displayed their full arsenal and kept the crowd guessing. In the end, it was the Walls of Jericho finishing Ziggler and adding another chapter to what is sure to be an excellent rivalry between the two.
Because it exceeded expectations and stole the spotlight from so many other anticipated matches, Jericho vs. Ziggler earns an A. Fans couldn't have asked for much more from a singles match at SummerSlam.
Grade: A
CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. Big Show
CM Punk retained his WWE Championship with a pinfall victory in SummerSlam's triple threat title match on Sunday night. This match saw several unique twists including the restart of the match after Punk and John Cena both forced Big Show to tap out.
Although this match entertained as we knew it would, it certainly didn't come close to matching the intrigue of Brock Lesnar vs. Triple H, and for that reason it earns a solid B. Punk's victory could have been a little more creative, but nonetheless, the title fight lived up to expectations.
Grade: B
