WWE SummerSlam 2012: Throwing the 'Art of Culmination' Right out the Window
Wrestling 101: The Art of Culmination
- Angle is started.
- Angle continues throughout weekly shows.
- Angle causes cliffhangers at minor pay-per-views.
- Angle culminates at a major PPV, usually WrestleMania, SummerSlam and/or Survivor Series.
Typically, this is the template for good wrestling television. Unfortunately, at this year's SummerSlam, we did not receive this kind of format. SummerSlam created a suitable platform for the biggest-built angles of the summer to reach a conclusion. However, it left many confused and wondering what the point is in continuing them.

Fresh Backstage WWE Rumors 👊

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Here are some angles that may fall into this category.
Daniel Bryan/Kane
This angle has been brewing since the late spring, when Kane became involved in the AJ storyline. It was a great way to give the two a well-deserved spot on the card, but the roll-up pin by Daniel Bryan seemed to give indication that this feud will continue. Hopefully the aggression shown by Kane backstage was a sign that he will move on to start a feud with someone else.
Sheamus/Alberto Del Rio
Please, WWE—do not give us more of these two. It was stale from the beginning, and the only solution is to buy a new bag of Rice Cakes.
The ending of the match was a very bad sign that it is likely we will see more of this feud, which could and should easily be replaced with something that has much more interest.
Although it is hard for WWE Creative to admit it, Alberto Del Rio is just not a top guy.
John Cena/CM Punk/Big Show
Although The Big Show may be weened out of this angle, it doesn't seem like we will see the end of CM Punk vs. John Cena anytime soon—especially with The Rock chomping at the bit to face the WWE Champion at the Royal Rumble.
Although this feud should not go a day longer, WWE Creative most likely would not throw anyone else in the title picture, with maybe the exception of Daniel Bryan again. Punk and Cena are the only two that the WWE has built to face The Rock, and recent programming haven't been known to give us any kind of swerves in regards to adding new people to the the title picture (that applies to the WHC as well). So unfortunately, it looks like we are forced to see more Punk vs. Cena.
Do you think any of these feuds should continue? Comment civilly below.
