WWE SummerSlam 2012: Biggest Feuds to Come out of Huge PPV

Adam WellsAug 21, 2012

Now that SummerSlam is over, it is time to start looking ahead to where WWE appears to be going with a number of top stars.

Some of these feuds could conclude at Night of Champions in September, while others could have a long, slow burn that will possibly end at one of the bigger pay-per-views—Survivor Series, Royal Rumble, WrestleMania.

Either way, WWE has set itself up for the fall in new, interesting ways that will shape the direction of the company for a long time to come.

Here are the biggest feuds that we would like to see after SummerSlam.

CM Punk vs. John Cena

This feud has been brewing ever since the end of Raw 1,000, but it took an interesting turn last night, as Punk stole Cena's win after Cena hit the Attitude Adjustment on Big Show.

It was an ending we have seen on more than one occasion in a triple-threat match, but this feud has been all about slow storytelling, which is a plus. Instead of just having Punk be evil and Cena be the white knight, Punk is doing what he has to so he can keep his title and get the respect from fans he feels he deserves.

Cena is getting booed out of buildings once again, so this feud is not working the way WWE wants it to. That said, it is still compelling television.

Brock Lesnar vs. WWE

There has always been an established order to the way things are run on television. When you turn on a match, you know what you are going to get.

All that changed when Lesnar returned to the company earlier this year, as he brought an edge and style that is so different than anything else. His match with Triple H was the step WWE should have taken when he wrestled Cena at Extreme Rules, but beggars can't be choosers.

Now, Lesnar can bring WWE down to its knees—at least when he is contractually obligated to show up. He is so unique that WWE can get great traction out of this until he wrestles Undertaker at WrestleMania.

Daniel Bryan vs. Kane

I don't know why, but I want these two to continue working together. They didn't have a great match at SummerSlam, nor is there anything that will elevate either wrestler to the next level, but they do work well together.

WWE actually put Bryan over, which is always a positive sign in my book. Plus, the whole anger management thing, which may or may not eventually involve Charlie Sheen, is better than anything Kane did with Zack Ryder.

It also helps that Bryan could get a good match out of a broom if he had to, so Kane should be giddy to work with Bryan a little bit longer.
