WWE SummerSlam 2012 Results: Whose Stock Is Rising or Falling After SummerSlam?

Michael GuadalupeJun 7, 2018

With SummerSlam officially over, and RAW just around the corner, it's time to take a look at some of the wrestlers from SummerSlam and see if their stocks are rising or falling.

Most of the matches at SummerSlam were great, but that doesn't mean every wrestler saw their stock rise.

What will happen to Ziggler now for example, after running his mouth for weeks and losing to Jericho when it mattered the most?

After the brutal match between Lesnar and Triple H, where does each wrestler stand as we move into Monday night RAW?

Who ended up benefiting from the Triple Threat match between CM Punk, Big Show, and John Cena?

Before Monday night RAW kicks off, let's take a quick look at 10 wrestlers who saw their stock either rise or fall after SummerSlam.

Stock Down: Santino Marella

1 of 10

Sometimes I wonder if Santino is a real wrestler, or just some clown that is supposed to lose to lackluster talent.

I know that Marella can really wrestle, but the WWE constantly chooses to use him like he is some type of joke, which in the end, hurts not only Marella, but the fans as well.

Are we supposed to believe his Cobra sock puppet is real?  Did he really need to sock to do his finisher in his Pre-Show match at SummerSlam?

The match between Cesaro and Marella was bad, almost as bad as his U.S. title reign.  Marella's lackluster performance made his stock go down.  The fact that he is constantly being used like a joke in the WWE is making his stock plummet.

When will he actually wrestle?  Will we be forced to constantly shake our heads at all the idiotic things Marella constantly does?

Sure, he was a weak U.S. champion, but losing like he did at SummerSlam makes Santino look like a bad wrestler as well.

Stock Down: Dolph Ziggler

2 of 10

Mr. Money In the Bank needs a push if we are ever supposed to believe he can successfully cash in his contract.

After losing to Chris Jericho at SummerSlam, Ziggler's stock is crashing.  Weeks of trash talking and telling Jericho he can't win the big one any more came back to haunt Ziggler.

He did put on a good match with Jericho, but in the end he would find himself locked in the Walls of Jericho in the middle of the ring with nowhere to go.  He would tap out, and Jericho would walk away with the last laugh.

The WWE gave Ziggler a push in the right direction with his Money In The Bank win.  He would have gotten even more of a push to possibly set him up to cash in his contract with a win over Jericho.

Instead, Ziggler lost, and now it's hard to see how he can manage to take advantage of his Money In The Bank contract.

Stock Up: Daniel Bryan

3 of 10

Daniel Bryan's stock went up ever so slightly with a win over Kane.

The Big Red Monster might have seemed like a clear choice when it came to picking a winner of this match, but D-Bry was able to roll Kane up in the end, and hold him enough for a three-count.

Bryan was able to finally beat Kane, but what will be next for the submission expert?

He gets a great reaction from the crowd, and has clearly proven his ability to be a heel, and hopefully now the WWE will use Bryan for something more than thrown together last-minute Pay-Per-View matches.

Will Kane have his revenge on Bryan?  Who knows, but what we do know is Bryan earned his win over Kane, and while the match was nothing special, Bryan getting the win makes his stock in the WWE rise slightly.

Now it's time to put Bryan in the spotlight again for a WWE title.

Stock Up: The Miz

4 of 10

The Miz is clearly getting a big push from the WWE.

Winning the Intercontinental title, and now a clean win over Mysterio at SummerSlam shows the WWE wants the Miz in the spotlight.

A win over the veteran high flyer has made Miz's stock soar.  A clean pin on an experienced wrestler like Mysterio shows that the Miz is ready to defend his title against all challengers.

What's next for the Awesome One?  Who knows, but rest assured, the Miz is ready to face any challenge that general managers A.J. and Booker T throw at him.

The Miz is clearly on a roll in the WWE and will continue to keep the momentum going as we head into the RAW after SummerSlam.

Stock Down: Alberto Del Rio

5 of 10

No matter what the WWE tries to do with Del Rio, it simply won't work.  His stock is crashing fast.

How many times can Alberto Del Rio go against Sheamus at a Pay-Per-View event and lose?

This time it might not have been his fault, his foot was clearly on the ropes after all, but he still lost in the end.  What makes it even worse is how boring his matches with Sheamus are.  Who wants to continue seeing the same thing over and over again?

Del Rio's stock is going down, but the WWE refuses to see it crash.  With his constant losses to Sheamus, how can Del Rio remain in the title scene?

He had his time to shine and failed, so now it's time for a new No. 1 contender.

Stock Up: CM Punk

6 of 10

CM Punk went into the Triple Threat match at SummerSlam with the most to lose.  He was at a clear disadvantage in the match, yet he was still able to walk away as the WWE champion.

It wasn't an easy win, either.  With the Big Show showing his dominance, and the match having to be restarted, Punk would take advantage of Cena hitting Show with the Attitude Adjustment in order to get the victory.

The big question now though, is how will John Cena react to Punk on the RAW after SummerSlam?

Punk tossed Cena out of the ring to get the win, and while Cena might not be too happy with what Punk did, he was able to keep his title, which in the end is all that matters.

As we move closer to the Royal Rumble, it seems as though The Rock will have his hands full with CM Punk.

Punk also has a pretty solid title run going right now, holding onto the gold for nine months so far.

Punk's stock is on the rise and will continue to go up with the weeks to come.

Stock Up: Big Show

7 of 10

Punk's stock may have risen because he walked away from the Triple Threat match victorious, but Big Show's stock went up for a different reason.

The World's Largest Athlete lost the match, but dominated both Punk and Cena throughout.  He would break out of two submission moves and toss both competitors around the ring.  He would also come extremely close to winning the title.

Big Show has been lackluster these last few months, which has made it hard for the WWE to sell Show as any type of threat.

After this match at SummerSlam though, Big Show proved he can be a dominant force.

If the WWE plans to have Show stick around the title scene as a major threat, this match at SummerSlam was a good place to start.

Big Show can still be a problem to anyone who holds the title, which is why his stock is going up.

Stock Down: John Cena

8 of 10

Big Show and Punk's stocks are rising after their Triple Threat match.  Cena's on the other hand, is going down.

It's been quite a while since John Cena held the championship belt, and his loss at SummerSlam is going to make his time without the title even longer.

Cena did all the hard work, picking Big Show up and hitting him with the Attitude Adjustment.  Still, he forgot to deal with Punk, and was thrown out of the ring before he could even react.

Super Cena usually overcomes everything.  However, for over a year now, Cena hasn't been able to get his title back and can't seem to overcome CM Punk.

Is Punk the best in the world?  Is that too much for even a wrestler like John Cena to handle? Given Cena's ability to always come away with the win in the end, stepping into the SummerSlam Triple Threat match and not walking away the champion is a huge blow to Cena's stock.

Will Cena ever regain his title?  Maybe one day, but for now CM Punk might be too much of a challenge for the Doctor of Thuganomics to overcome.

Stock Down: Triple H

9 of 10

Poor Triple H.  He tapped out, and everyone at the Staples Center during SummerSlam let him know it.

For weeks, Triple H has been dying to get his hands on the Beast, Brock Lesnar.  Yet when he finally does, he fails to get the win.

Maybe it was because Shawn Michaels wasn't in his corner, or maybe Lesnar was simply too much for Triple H to handle.  Regardless, the Game would tap out to Lesnar and his submission move.

With such a major loss, though, is Triple H done?  The way he walked backstage would suggest that the Game is getting ready to hang up his boots.

His loss to Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam might have hurt the Game's ego badly, but what did he expect? Lesnar is no ordinary wrestler, and Triple H knew that going into this match.  Still, the Game got what he wanted, and even though he lost, he put up a solid fight.

Lesnar was too much for Triple H, and now that the Game might be done, his stock is crashing.

Stock Up: Brock Lesnar

10 of 10

The biggest mover of SummerSlam is Brock Lesnar.  After losing his first match of the year to John Cena at Extreme Rules, Lesnar was able to come back and take care of one of the best wrestlers in the WWE, Triple H.

It goes much further than that though.  With Lesnar taking out one of the top dogs of the WWE, who is going to stop him now?  What will Lesnar do now after beating the Game?  Will he ride off into the sunset like he did after his loss to Cena?

Or will he become a major threat in the WWE?

It's going to be hard for anyone to stop the Beast, and if the WWE plans to take full advantage of Lesnar and his monster heel potential, his victory over Triple H would be the best way to capitalize on it.

He has the ability to do whatever he wants, especially now that no one is standing in his way.  How will Lesnar impact the WWE?  We will have to wait for RAW to find out.
