Can't Miss Matches
Chris Jericho vs. Dolph Ziggler
Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar and the WWE Championship triple threat match may steal all the headlines, but Jericho vs. Ziggler is a match that fans shouldn't sleep on.
Ziggler is one of the most promising up-and-comers in the company. As the current "Mr. Money in the Bank" he's likely going to be World Heavyweight Champion soon, he is great on the mic and brings an entertaining style to the ring.
Jericho is one of the best workers in the business and has been the perfect fit to feud with Ziggler before he ultimately wins the title.
This match has had a nice build up with a good storyline and some enjoyable matches along the way.
Prediction: Ziggler Wins
It's no secret that this is likely Jericho's last match in a while as his band Fozzy goes on tour to promote their latest album. With that in mind, it's hard to envision Jericho picking up the win here and will most likely put Ziggler over instead.
Jericho is just the man to put Ziggler over as it makes Ziggler look like a legitimate threat. While the result seems fairly predictable, this should still be a great match as both of these performers are good in the ring and should be able to put on quite the show.
Expect Ziggler to pick up the win and Jericho to work in a reason that he is leaving, whether it be an injury or finally admitting that he "can't win the big one".
CM Punk vs. John Cena vs. Big Show for the WWE Championship
John Cena and Big Show continue to feud even though it feels like the feud became stale shortly after it started.
While Big Show's presence in this match feels perplexing, fans can at least take solace in CM Punk's presence and another intense feud between Cena and Punk. The fact that this match is for the WWE Championship gives the match the ramifications that match its magnitude.
Punk is arguably the company's best performer and his matches are always must-see so it stands to reason that he will put on a memorable performance against the face of the company and the "World's Largest Athlete" with the title on the line.
Prediction: John Cena def. Big Show by Pinfall
Fans with a disdain for "Super Cena" may want to make sure that there are no heavy objects within reach as they may be tempted to throw things at their television screen by the end of this match.
Punk has held the title for over seven months. That's seven months that the face of the company hasn't held the organization's biggest title. Look for that to change at SummerSlam.
Punk's recent heel turn would indicate that the company is looking to drag out another Punk-Cena feud and the most logical way to do that would be Punk dropping the belt to Cena at SummerSlam and have Punk feud with Cena in his quest to regain the championship.
Cena will most likely be aided by Big Show in the early going—it's customary for the champion to take the brunt of the damage early in a triple threat match (something that has already been played up in the storyline), but look for Cena to take down the giant in the end after holding off a come back attempt by the champion.
With Cena and Show teaming up against Punk, the former champion could demand a one-on-one rematch at the following Pay-Per-View.
Triple H vs. Brock Lesnar
This battle between high-profile part-timers could be the most unpredictable match of the entire night.
Lesnar's reckless style is fun to watch and Triple H is a living legend so this match promises to deliver highly-entertaining action. The build up to this fight has been pulled off well, albeit sporadically as the WWE has been forced to work around Lesnar's schedule.
The intriguing thing to watch (other than how Lesnar and Triple H perform given their part-time status) will be what impact Paul Heyman and Shawn Michaels will have on the match.
Michaels was supposed to be in Triple H's corner for the match but that is uncertain now as Lesnar "broke his arm" in the final episode of Raw leading up to SummerSlam which leaves Michaels presence up in the air. Heyman, on the other hand, is a lock to be involved as he serves as Lesnar's mouthpiece and played a huge role in the creation of the match.
Prediction: Lesnar wins
Lesnar really needs to win this match if the WWE wants to get the most out of the contract that they signed Lesnar to earlier this year.
The company really had a chance for Lesnar's return to make an impact when they paired him with John Cena at Extreme Rules in April but they used Lesnar to put Cena over. The loss drained any momentum that Lesnar's return had and led to his current feud with Triple H.
The company has a chance at redemption in this match though as they have the opportunity to make Lesnar look incredibly strong with a win over Triple H. Putting Lesnar over this time would set up an epic feud for Lesnar with any of the company's biggest names for Royal Rumble or even Wrestlemania moving forward.
