Ron Patterson Unable to Attend Indiana, Receives Interest from Louisville

Jon HancockJun 7, 2018

On Wednesday, it was released that Indiana 2012 commit Ron Patterson was ruled ineligible to play for the Hoosiers next season after struggling with summer courses. According to InsideTheHall.com, Patterson has the options of transferring to another four-year school immediately, going to junior college or attending prep school.

In a statement Tom Crean said, “We think very highly of Ron and will continue to work with him as allowed to help him reach his goals. He has the chance to do some special things for himself and his family and we will be supportive of whatever he chooses to do.”

Patterson may make his decision as early as Friday according to Kyle Neddenriepof the IndyStar.com. If the Broad Ripple High School guard chooses prep school, he will most likely attend Brewster Academy in New Hampshire. He has also received interest from Purdue, Louisville, Missouri, Ohio State, Illinois, IUPUI, Memphis, Providence, Villanova, Xavier, Lamar, Southern Miss, Wright State, Dayton, Nevada and Florida Gulf Coast.

Louisville is a team that may have a scholarship to give after top-100 recruit TerryRozier was forced to go to prep school after struggling to become academically eligible for the 2012-2013 season.

The Cardinals attempted to recruit 6'10" center Mangok Mathiang from IMGA Academies in Bradenton, Floria; but at this point Mathiang has not made it to Louisville's campus and nothing has changed concerning his eligibility for next season.

According to ESPN.com, Patterson is a 3-star prospect and is ranked 131st in the 2012 class by Rivals.com. The 6'3" shooting guard scored 18.5 points as a senior and was named to the Indiana All-Star team.
