WWE SummerSlam 2012: Triple Threat Rules Play into CM Punk's Hands
CM Punk will have the best seat in the house.
He’ll face off against John Cena and Big Show in the 2012 WWE SummerSlam on Sunday, but while he holds the championship belt, something tells me Cena and the Giant will have bigger fish to fry at the Staples Center.
In the every-man-for-himself Triple Threat format, you know for a fact that Cena and Show aren’t teaming up with each other to knock out Punk.

Of course, maybe it’s just me.
I mean, it isn’t like Big Show stabbed Cena in the back, knocking him out in a match against John Laurinaitis—the very man that made Show cry. He didn’t destroy Cena’s previous shot at Punk’s belt, invading their fight and attacking the Prototype. And they haven’t gone head-to-head three times in the past three months, splitting the first two bouts before a no-contest in the third.
Oh wait, that all did happen.
When it comes to putting Cena and Show’s focus on their goal into words, or at least, in theory, what should be their goal—dethroning Punk—“distracted” is an understatement.
If he really wanted to, Punk could probably pull up a lawn chair and chill in the corner of the ring. Maybe prop his feet up on the ropes, sip some non-alcoholic punch and watch Cena and Show rip each other to shreds. And from there, he can finish off whoever isn’t already finished off.
Sure, right now, Punk isn’t on Cena’s good side either. But considering that Show has recently come to Punk’s aid in an effort to defeat Cena, what makes you think he won’t take advantage of a Cena assault on Punk?
Basically, Cena is screwed. He won’t be able to survive without protecting himself at all times from Show. And it wouldn’t even be a surprise if Show teamed up with Punk just to take him out early.
