Henderson vs. Edgar 2: What We Learned from UFC 150's Main Event

Riley KontekAug 11, 2012

One thing is for certain: Frankie Edgar and Benson Henderson are the two best lightweights in the world.

The 155-pound elites put on a five-round affair Saturday night that showed technical prowess and tremendous resolve.

Henderson, who won by split decision, has a lot on his plate. He won a very controversial fight over Edgar, and he has to defend against Nate Diaz next.

He is a modest champion and won a modest fight. Plain and simple.

What we'll remember about this fight

It was a great fight. It wasn't an all-time great, but it was definitely worth the build up and the money. Edgar and Henderson, as well as the rest of the performers, put on a more-than-modest show.

What we learned about Edgar

Edgar is a warrior. If you didn't know that already, you need to rewind your MMA life. Edgar should have won, in my opinion, but life goes on.

What we learned about Henderson

Henderson is as tough as they come. He takes punishment, gives it out and continues to amaze.

What's next for Edgar

Edgar needs to drop to featherweight and give Jose Aldo an actual challenge. He has the stand-up and all-around game to present problems and make the champ go to the brink.

What's next for Henderson

Henderson has to fight Nate Diaz. Plain and simple.
