Top Athletes
Team USA Men's Basketball
For the second straight Olympics, the U.S. men will be battling Spain for the gold. In Beijing, the Americans won 118-107 in a game that was actually closer than the score indicates.
In that game, the Spaniards were effective in the paint on offense and defense. They will have a chance to do so again, as the U.S. lacks size.
However they do have unbelievable athleticism all over the court. So, stars like LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant and Carmelo Anthony will be flashing jumpers and drives to the rim as they try to bring home the gold.
Men's Marathon: Patrick Makau and Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya
These two Kenyans will likely be battling each other for the gold. Patrick Makau has run the fastest marathon in history, and Geoffrey Mutai is the defending Boston and New York Marathon champ.
This event will bring a close to the track and field competition, and it could be an emotional end. Both of these men are trying to defend Kenya's gold in this event. In 2008, Kenyan Sammy Wanjiru won gold in Beijing. He passed away just last year at the age of 24.
Men's Super Heavyweight Boxing: Anthony Joshua of Great Britain
Anthony Joshua will attempt to give the hometown fans a big close to their Olympics by winning the super heavyweight gold.
Joshua, 22, has been boxing for just four years. He burst onto the scene last year by finishing second at the world amateur boxing championships. He is a talented and strong fighter, and he is just beginning to figure out how to harness his ability.
He is going to have a long career, and he will show why in this bout.
