11 Strikers from the 2012 Men's Olympic Football Tournament
The London 2012 Olympic games are nearly over and with them the football event will also draw to a close. I think it's fair to say that football has not been something the Olympics will be remembered for, but there are medals to be won.
There have been certain forwards that have stood out throughout the event and deserve mention in this slideshow.
11. Daniel Sturridge (GB)
1 of 11I think it's fair to say that it hasn't exactly been a fantastic tournament for Team GB. Sturridge was unlucky to be excluded from England's Euro 2012 squad, and he scored two goals to help his side into the quarter-finals.
10. Ismail Matar (UAE)
2 of 11UAE went out of the football event in the group stage. But Matar still impressed many people with his performances in those early games. The player scored two important goals in the group stage, this is something that may lead him to a major transfer.
9. Pape Moussa Konate (Senegal)
3 of 11The 19-year-old Senegal forward looks like a real star of the present and the future. He has proved his ability with five goals in the football event. It will be interesting to see if this leads to a major summer move, so he can get even more exposure.
8. Jerry Bengtson (Honduras)
4 of 11I think it's fair to say that Honduras performed better than expected, and one of the reasons behind that is the form of their star forward. Bengtson showed his ability in front of the goal by scoring three superb goals.
7. Craig Bellamy (GB)
5 of 11Bellamy may have only scored one goal in the Olympic tournament, but he proved to be an important player that caused problems in all the games he played in. However, it remains to be seen if he will remain in the Premier League.
6. Mohammed Salah (Egypt)
6 of 11Egypt had a pretty good Olympics and part of the reason behind that was the form of their 20-year-old striker. I think it's fair to say that his goals in the group stage were vital to advance into the knock-out phase, and Salah is certainly a player worth keeping an eye on in the coming years.
5. Yuki Otsu (Japan)
7 of 11Otsu is an exciting talent emerging from Japan, and he proved to be a very capable player that could well prove to have a long international future. His ability to play as an attacking midfielder and a striker adds another dimension to his appeal.
4. Kensuke Negai (Japan)
8 of 11Kensuke Nagai is another exciting player to come out of Japan and he has proved the ability that he has during London 2012. It will be interesting to see if his performances gets him a move to one of the top European league.
3. Oribe Peralta (Mexico)
9 of 11The overage players have played an important part during the London 2012 Olympics. This is certainly the case for Mexico and Peralta. He is certainly a player that looks capable of performing to a high level on a consistent basis.
2. Neymar (Brazil)
10 of 11Neymar is certainly a player that needs no introduction and was set to be one of the true stars of this event. He has not disappointed with his three goals, and he will hope to add to that tally in the final for that gold medal.
1. Leandro Damiao (Brazil)
11 of 11I think it is fair to say that Damiao has upstaged Neymar with his superb tally of six goals. Clearly, Brazil are in a very good place in terms of exciting attacking talent, and it looks highly likely they will win that gold medal.
