WWE SummerSlam 2012 Predictions: Brock Lesnar Will Begin Dominant Run with Win

Vince McMahon didn't sign Brock Lesnar to become a glorified jobber. After a shaky start to his WWE comeback, Lesnar will finally start showing why the company wanted to bring him back with a marquee victory over Triple H at SummerSlam.

Even though it was clear from the beginning that Lesnar wouldn't be working a full schedule following his return, hopes were still high because he became one of the most popular superstars during his first stay in the WWE.

That excitement and enthusiasm quickly turned to disappointment, as the combination of a loss to John Cena at Extreme Rules and several rambling promos caused his aura to take a big hit.

Knowing he needed a boost, the WWE threw him in to a match with Triple H at one of the year's biggest events. It's a match that's been expected for quite some time, but that doesn't make it any less intriguing.

Although adding Shawn Michaels to the mix won't have a significant impact on the result, it will help generate more hype for what's setting up to become one of the year's most anticipated matches. As WrestleMania showed, fans love when former stars return.

Ultimately, the key of the entire storyline is to get Lesnar back on an elite level so that he can be a major draw for the rest of the year and beyond until his contract runs out. He wouldn't be able to do that without Triple H or another big name right now given his booking since April.

The Rock can come back any given week and draw a huge reaction. The same goes for Undertaker, who has an even more limited schedule than Lesnar at this point. Lesnar was on that level when he first came back, but he isn't any longer.

Getting the interest level back up is only possible if he gets a massive push in the coming months. It's unclear what his schedule looks like between now and Survivor Series—the next big pay-per-view—but hopefully it includes more dates than the time between Extreme Rules and now.

A span of a few months where Lesnar is turned in o an unstoppable monster, starting with a victory over Triple H, would be a major step in the right direction. Heyman has to hang around to handle the promos, though, because Lesnar is exposed every time he starts talking.

If the WWE plans on having Lesnar take up a valuable spot in the main-event scene instead of giving a fresh face a chance, he must deliver performances worthy of that. It hasn't happened so far, but it should start at SummerSlam.

Look for an old-school brawl that eventually results in a Lesnar victory. It will be the first step toward him playing a more prominent role moving forward.
