Olympic Track and Field TV Schedule: Must-See Events for Rest of Action
There are legends to be made in the coming days in the track and field events at the London Games. There are long runs, short runs, relays, throws, jumps and just about everything else you can imagine coming up.
There will be plenty that is worth watching. Now we just have to figure out how to watch it. The best bet is via live streaming on NBC Olympics. There you can actually catch stuff live, and know exactly when it will be on.
For the more adventurous, who like to try and catch this stuff on TV, check out NBC's TV schedule for track and field, and the below listing for three events that will be a blast.
Must-See Events (all times ET)
Men's 200-meter Final
When: Thursday, August 9 at 3:55 p.m.
TV: 8 p.m. - 12 a.m. on August 9-10
After watching Usain Bolt sprint away from the field to capture the gold in the 100-meter final, there is little doubt that he will coast to gold here.
While this takes away some of the suspense, it does give us a clear shot of the kind of history he will make. With a gold in this event, Bolt will become the first man in the history of the Olympics to win back-to-back golds in the 100-meters and 200-meters.
Men's 4x100-meter Relay
When: Saturday, August 11 at 4:00 p.m.
TV: 8 p.m. - 12 a.m. on August 11-12
This is always one of the most exciting events of the Olympics. With Jamaica claiming the top two spots, and the U.S. taking spots three to five in the finals of the 100, this one figures to be a two-team shootout.
Broken records have been few and far between in the damp air and soggy track of London, but it wouldn't be a shock to see one fall here.
Men's Marathon
When: Sunday, August 12 at 6 a.m.
TV: Sunday, August 12 at 7 a.m. - 10 a.m. on NBC
The men's marathon will bring the track and field action to a close. Not surprisingly, the Kenyans will be a huge factor in this race.
They have world-record holder Patrick Makau and defending Boston and New York Marathon champ Geoffrey Mutai ready to defend the country's gold in this event.
That right there should be an emotional moment, as defending gold medalist and Kenyan Sammy Wanjiru passed away just last year at the age of 24.
