Olympic Medal Count 2012: Events Where Team USA Will Find Success on Day 10
The 2012 Olympic medal chase is starting to sort itself out, but the United States will need to continue to win every medal possible.
Swimming is wrapping up, but the team did very well in collecting medals in the pool. The Americans will have limited opportunities on Day 10 to earn some medals.
Currently, the United States trails only China in gold medals and overall medals.

| Country | Gold | Silver | Bronze | Total |
| China | 30 | 17 | 14 | 61 |
| United States | 27 | 14 | 16 | 57 |
Day 10 will be focused on two team sports: the men's basketball team and women's soccer team. The basketball team takes on Argentina in the final game of group play, but there is no medal on the line.
The USWNT plays in the semifinals against Canada on Monday. No medal is directly involved in the game, but a win guarantees they will medal.
Basketball will get the nation's attention, but other events will hand out medals tomorrow.
Which Day 10 events will the Americans be able to medal in?
Gymnastics
The individual all-around champion, Gabby Douglas, will compete for another gold medal on Monday.
She will compete in the finals on bars, but she is not expected to win the event. She struggled on bars during team qualifying, but she improved her score by about five-tenths when she competed in the all-around finals.
Her score of 15.733 was her best of the Olympics on bars, and it would be good enough to contend for a medal. She will need to perform at a high level because Great Britain's Beth Tweddle, China's He Kexin and Russia's Viktoria Komova will be tough to beat.
As the event finals have already shown, nobody is a lock to take home a gold medal. She can complete a great 2012 Olympics with a clutch performance on Monday.
Douglas has been one of the best stories of the Olympics, so the 16-year-old may continue to surprise the world with another great performance.
Women's Pole Vault
Jenn Suhr gives Team USA its best chance at a medal in track and field on Monday.
She will compete not only for a medal, but a chance at gold. She won the silver medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, so she has experience.
Her biggest competition is Russia's Yelena Isinbayeva, who won gold at both the 2004 and 2008 Olympics.
All it takes is one mistake by Isinbayeva, and Suhr could leave the Olympics with a gold medal.
Pole vaulting will not get a lot of publicity, but it will give Team USA one of its best opportunities to win a medal on Day 10 of the Olympics.
