Honda Indy 200 2012 Results: Reaction, Leaders and Post-Race Analysis
Scott Dixon has done it again. Anchored by an awesome pit crew and mistake-free racing, the IndyCar veteran won the Honda Indy 200 once again.
Dixon has been one of the better drivers on the Mid-Ohio course, which has led to him winning four of the last six Honda Indy 200 races. He made his best move on Lap 57 when he took the lead from Will Power's No. 12 pole-winning car.
Will Power stayed in second and picked up quite a few points by leading for 57 laps. However, Dixon sees the race as a starting point for a run at the season championship. He said, via Racer.com:
"I thought we were in a hole after qualifying...We couldn't get the front to grip up. But it's down to a huge credit for the team. The crew did it today. It puts us back in the hunt. Coming in with an open pit helped, as (Simon) Pagenaud had already stopped. At 28 points out, we're back.
"
For Dixon, this is just another step to a possible championship, but he will have to catch Power's Verizon-sponsored car in order to do so. Power just took the lead in points for the season-long championship and isn't going to look back.
