Leuris Pupo Takes Gold in Rapid Fire Shooting

Cuban Leuris Pupo tied a final world record on his way to gold in the men's 25-meter rapid fire pistol shooting competition on Friday in London. Pupo finished with a total score of 34, outlasting India's Vijay Kumar and China's Ding Feng, who finished with silver and bronze respectively.

The 35-year-old Pupo finished fourth in the second qualifying stage, but saved his best performance for when it counted on Day 7, bringing pride to his family and native Cuba at the 2012 London Games. World records aren't often noticed at the Olympics when they take place in under-the-radar sports like shooting, but fans should be appreciative when Olympians make or match history, no matter the sport or event.

Asian Nations Dominate Men's Individual Archery

Day 7's men's individual archery competition was dominated by Asian competitors, as South Korea, Japan and China all placed an Olympian on the podium. South Korea's Oh Jin-Hyek won gold in the event on Friday, beating Japan's Takaharu Furukawa in the gold medal match. China's Dai Xiaoxiang won the bronze medal match to guarantee the Asian sweep.

There was little drama at Lord's Cricket Ground however, as Jin-Hyek won easily in the gold medal match, cementing his archery dominance and reminding the world just how good South Korea is in the sport.

Chinese Take Top Two Podium Spots in Badminton

The Chinese mixed doubles badminton pair of Zhang Nan and Zhao Yunlei won Olympic gold on Friday, edging their fellow Chinese mixed doubles pair of Xu Chen and Ma Jin, who took home silver honors. Denmark's Joachim Fischer and Christinna Pedersen beat the fourth place Indonesian pair in straight games to win bronze.

The gold medal match featured some awesome moments, including a pair a match-long 29 second rally in the second game. The match concluded in less than hour but was without question one of the more thrilling title showdowns at the Olympics this summer. China has always been strong in badminton, but they took their dominance to the next level on Day 7.
