Manchester United Player Ratings vs. Ajax Cape Town: Who Impressed for the Reds?
Ajax Cape Town 1-1 Manchester United
In Manchester United's second preseason friendly match, the Red Devils huffed and puffed their way to a 1-1 draw with South African side Ajax Cape Town. Here are my ratings for the players involved:
Ben Amos: The English keeper made some impressive saves but could do little to prevent Cape Town's goal (7).

Marnick Vermijl: The youngster looked threatening going forward, but still needs to develop a final product (7).
Scott Wooton: Solid game at the back for Wooton, who could turn out to be quite a useful centre-back if he can develop his footballing IQ (6).
Rio Ferdinand: Looked troubled at times with the opposition attacker's quick pace, but held the fort down well over the course of the game (6).
Tyler Blackett: Neither full-back looked afraid to push forward; however, the lanky Blackett perhaps did not seem as assured as Vermijl. May find himself called upon if Sir Alex decides to retain Patrice Evra as the club's first choice left-back (6).
Antonio Valencia: Tormenting the Cape Town left-back with his jinxing runs and superb turn-of-pace, the flying winger perhaps proved United's most influential player in both halves (8).
Michael Carrick: As effect as ever without really catching the eye—a typical Michael Carrick performance (7).
Paul Scholes: The United legend certainly threw himself around early on, and was perhaps lucky not to get into some disciplinary trouble. Grew into the game, but almost gifted an opening goal to Cape Town, getting caught in possession 20 minutes in. Proved his class in the second half (7).
Anderson: An energetic performance by the Brazilian, but his passing often let him down. Played most of the game on the left flank without much effect (6).
Shinji Kagawa: In his first start, Kagawa was impressive, linking up well with Carrick and Scholes in midfield with some lovely one-touch passing. Missed an easy header in the second half, though (8).
Javier Hernandez: An improved performance from the Mexican after an horrific display against Amazulu; however, the striker still managed to miss a couple of good chances in the first half (6).
Subs
Nick Powell: Unlucky not to score late on (6).
Ryan Tunnicliffe: A lively cameo from the central midfielder (7).
Bebe: A great finish aside, a poor overall display from Bebe. Needs to work very hard on his touch and passing (5).
Jesse Lingard: Not much for Lingard to do in the time given (6).
Dimitar Berbatov: Looked as classy as ever in a 15-minute spell (6).
