Transfer Rumors: Predicting Landing Spots for Top 20 Rumors of Transfer Window
The summer transfer window is full of speculation.
There's speculation about who will be making a move, where they'll be making a move to and how much they'll be making a move for.
And whilst we've already seen several big names such as Eden Hazard, Shinji Kagawa and Zlatan Ibrahimovic make their respective moves this summer, there's still a plethora of names talked about and discussed as potential movers in the transfer window.
Here's the 20 biggest players rumored to be making a move this summer, and an answer on whether or not it'll end up happening. Read on to see who could be coming to your club over the transfer window.
Robin Van Persie
1 of 20Currently at: Arsenal
Will end up at: Arsenal
Arguably the hottest rumor in the transfer window is around Robin van Persie and whether or not he'll be making a move from the Gunners this summer. He's already stated he won't be renewing his contract next season, so the question becomes whether Arsenal try sell him now or keep him for another year.
I say they keep him, and I say this because of the money.
Arsenal knows that the retention of van Persie this year could be the difference between them finishing in the top four and out of the top four in the Premier League—meaning they could miss out on Champions League football and all the financial assistance that comes with it.
They could get £30-35 million if they sold van Persie now, or they could get a similar amount by keeping him and having a strong season in Europe and the Premier League. And it would give them an additional 12 months to try and change the striker's mind about leaving.
I say van Persie stays.
Joao Moutinho
2 of 20Currently at: Porto
Will end up at: Porto
Another star who won't be making a move this summer is Joao Moutinho.
The Porto midfielder had been linked to Manchester United and Tottenham, but with Porto reportedly wanting at least £30 million for the Portuguese international and neither club likely to pay that high a price, I think he too will stay at his current location.
Victor Moses
3 of 20Currently at: Wigan Athletic
Will end up at: Arsenal
Wigan winger Victor Moses had a very strong season last year and has caught the attention of several big-name Premier League clubs about a potential move—in particular, Chelsea and Arsenal.
I think Moses ends up at Arsenal. Chelsea's squad is already very, very strong and should they add another attacker into the fold, Moses is unlikely to be anything other than a substitute.
However, at Arsenal, I think he could be a very strong midfielder. The Gunners are believed to see Moses as a replacement for Theo Walcott and as shown by the blooding of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain last season, are willing to take a chance on a youngster with proven skill and ability.
Hulk
4 of 20Currently at: Porto
Will end up at: Porto
Long-standing transfer target for Chelsea, Hulk will not be making a move to the Champions League winners this summer—declaring that he is not making a move away from Porto.
The striker was believed to have agreed upon a deal with the Blues, which left many assuming he would join them during the transfer window but it seems that no deal has taken place and Chelsea will have to look for another striker if they want to add more attacking talent to their squad.
Christian Eriksen
5 of 20Currently at: Ajax
Will end up at: Ajax
Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen is arguably one of the most underrated midfielders in world football and has been linked to several Premier League clubs over the transfer window so far.
The latest rumor is about a potential move to Manchester United, but the simple truth is Ajax will not sell their star player—especially not after watching Jan Vertonghen make his way to Tottenham Hotspur.
Ajax will be looking to repeat their Eredivisie success from last season and selling their two best players in the space of a month isn't likely to take place.
Carlos Tevez
6 of 20Currently at: Manchester City
Will end up at: Manchester City
Carlos Tevez has been rumored to be making a move to AC Milan for some time now, but it won't be taking place over this year's summer transfer window.
Tevez wants to be the lone star of the team—something he won't be able to achieve at City whilst the likes of Sergio Aguero and Mario Balotelli are there—but he also wants to win championships, and he knows that the Etihad remains his best chance at doing that.
The recent sale of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva means that Milan is significantly weaker than it was last season, and Tevez won't have the same support around him to thrive at the club.
That, and manager Roberto Mancini has insisted he will keep Tevez at the club and keep him in the starting side for the Citizens. Can't see this move taking place.
Robert Lewandowski
7 of 20Currently at: Borussia Dortmund
Will end up at: Borussia Dortmund
Robert Lewandowski was Dortmund's best player last season and a huge reason behind their German Cup and Bundesliga success. He was naturally rumored to several clubs this summer—the biggest of which being English giants Manchester United.
And after the Polish national coach shared his insights on the matter, Lewandowski to the Red Devils might have seemed like a done-deal. But, in fact, no deal is going to takes place and it's time we put this rumor to bed once and for all.
The club's CEO has insisted the star striker will not be leaving the club this summer after they already sold their best midfielder in Shinji Kagawa to United. Dortmund will be desperate to fight off Bayern Munich again for German success and if Lewandowski leaves, they wouldn't stand a chance against the depth of Bayern.
Lewandowski will be staying at Dortmund this summer.
Lucas Moura
8 of 20Currently at: Sao Paulo
Will end up at: Sao Paulo
Manchester United have shown a great interest in the 19-year-old so far this summer—sending a delegation party to Brazil to try and wrap up a deal with the youngster—but I can't see this move taking place.
The Red Devils would have to spend around £25-30 million to secure Moura, which for a young player with no proven ability in the Premier League, is simply not going to happen.
Sir Alex Ferguson recognizes talent when he sees it, and Moura may well end up at United some time in the future, but it won't happen this summer. The transfer fee and player wages are simply too much for such a young player—even one with the talent and skills of Moura.
Leighton Baines
9 of 20Currently at: Everton
Will end up at: Manchester United
Everton defender Leighton Baines will make a move to Manchester United over the summer transfer window after having a strong season in the Premier League and at the recent European Championships.
United won't have to spend more than £10-15 million for Baines with Everton's current financial problems potentially forcing the Merseyside club to sell off the defender sooner than they would have liked.
In my mind, Baines is arguably the best left-back in England and has the potential to turn United into the favorites for the Premier League. Sir Alex Ferguson no doubt knows the impact that Baines could have, and will sign him over the transfer window.
Andy Carroll
10 of 20Currently at: Liverpool
Will end up at: Liverpool (loaned out)
Andy Carroll is the start of many jokes, the least of which being the £35 million that Liverpool paid for him. His six goals last season in the Premier League didn't help his cause on that front.
One of the most overpaid players in world football, Carroll has been the subject of a move away from Liverpool for some time now with several clubs including Newcastle interested in the striker.
However, I can't see Liverpool settling for anything less than around £25 million and I can't see any club offering that much for Carroll—meaning that he will remain at Anfield.
What I can see happening is the Reds retaining him and then shipping him out on loan, where he might just find his feet and show why Liverpool paid so much for him in the first place.
Yann M'Vila
11 of 20Currently at: Rennes
Will end up at: Arsenal
Arsenal have been interested in Yann M'Vila for some time now and with M'Vila interested in Arsenal, there's no reason to suggest why a deal won't take place between the two parties.
M'Vila is currently valued at £18 million according to Transfermarkt.com, and is well and truly worth the money for Arsenal. He is a strong midfielder and would help solidify the Gunners both in attack and defense and is a must-sign given the insecurity prevalent at the moment courtesy of Robin van Persie's decision not to resign next season.
And he just happens to be French.
Leandro Damiao
12 of 20Currently at: Internacional
Will end up at: Tottenham Hotspur
The incredible off-season looks set to continue for Spurs with Leandro Damiao a potential target for Andre Villas-Boas as he looks to boost his attacking ranks.
With a figure of around £15 million likely to force Internacional into selling the striker and the club already signing Diego Forlan for next season, Damiao could well be on his way to White Hart Lane.
New manager, solid signings and a genuine chance at a top four spot? I say the Brazilian moves to Tottenham over the transfer window.
Javi Martinez
13 of 20Currently at: Atletico Bilbao
Will end up at: Barcelona
Javi Martinez has been closely watched by Barcelona for some time now and despite signing a long-term contract at the club, is still being touted as a potential transfer target for Camp Nou.
And for some strange reason, I think he might just go.
Martinez has already admitted he admires the club, Neymar is looking unlikely to move from Santos and Barcelona desperate to improve on their La Liga and Champions League performances from last year, the Barca board could well shell out the money required to buyout Martinez from Bilbao.
He has the experience required in La Liga and at just 23 years of age, could be a Camp Nou favorite for many years to come. Call me crazy, but I think he'll move.
Gregory Van Der Wiel
14 of 20Currently at: Ajax
Will end up at: Real Madrid
Ajax defender Gregory van der Wiel has expressed an interest in signing with Real Madrid over the transfer window and with the Spanish champions needing a right back, could well end up making a move.
I think with van der Wiel desperate to move to a "top club" and Madrid more than capable of spending the money required to sign him, this one will end up taking place.
Rafael Van Der Vaart
15 of 20Currently at: Tottenham Hotspur
Will end up at: Tottenham Hotspur
Rafael van der Vaart had been linked with a potential move from Spurs back to the Bundesliga, but with Hamburg unable to meet his player wages and transfer fee, it seems that the Dutch international will remain at White Hart Lane next season.
The addition of some excellent signings throughout the transfer window will no doubt help Tottenham's cause, with van der Vaart no doubt aware of the added squad depth that will exist next season.
Throw in some personal flattery by Andre Villas-Boas, and I'm confident he'll stay with Spurs.
Demba Ba
16 of 20Currently at: Newcastle United
Will end up at: Newcastle United
After it was revealed that Newcastle striker Demba Ba could be available for a significantly reduced transfer fee due to a clause in his contract, the speculation about a potential move no doubt arose.
But with Ba wanting to stay at the club and manager Alan Pardew desperate to partner Ba with Papass Cisse up front next season, I can't see him moving on from St. James Park any time in the summer transfer window.
Stevan Jovetic
17 of 20Currently at: Fiorentina
Will end up at: Fiorentina
Stevan Jovetic was billed as a potential signing over the summer for both Chelsea and Arsenal—Chelsea, should their deal fall through with Hulk (which it did) and Arsenal, should Robin van Persie not sign a new contract with the club (which he didn't do).
So which of the two Premier League clubs will land Jovetic? Neither.
Arsenal seem to be out of the running with Fiorentina only wanting to listen to offers above 30 million euros. The entire position with van Persie has seemingly come about due to the club's inability to pay big money, and I can't see them shelling out the money that could have spent on the Dutch international on his replacement instead.
Jovetic also won't move to Chelsea because I don't think the European champions are actually interested in signing him at all. Call me cynical, but I'm a little suspicious that a deal about Jovetic and Chelsea broke at the exact time that negotiations with Hulk began to dwindle.
I'm sure they'd take Jovetic should he be available, but 30 million euros for a guy that they don't really want? Not even Roman Abramovich is that bad.
James Rodriguez
18 of 20Currently at: Porto
Will end up at: Porto
James Rodriguez had been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United over the summer with the Red Devils keen to add another young, talented midfielder into the fold at Old Trafford.
However, with the 20-year-old committing to his current club and stating that he will not be making a move away from Estadio do Dragao, it seems that United won't get their man.
Not yet, anyway.
Maicon
19 of 20Currently at: Inter Milan
Will end up at: Real Madrid
Maicon has less than a year left on his contract at Inter Milan and with both Chelsea and Real Madrid interested, will end up moving away from the San Siro and changing leagues.
With Madrid believed to be pulling ahead of the Blues in the race to sign the 30-year-old defender and Chelsea's starting squad already strong, I'm going with Real to land Maicon for next season.
Luka Modric
20 of 20Currently at: Tottenham Hotspur
Will end up at: Real Madrid
Croatian midfielder Luka Modric is the hottest name in the transfer window, as far as midfielders go, and looks set to sign with Real Madrid for next season.
Chelsea and Manchester United were originally interested in the 26-year-old, but with Modric's price tag sitting at around £35 million and Spurs boss Daniel Levy not wanting to sell him to a Premier League club, Real Madrid became the automatic frontrunners.
The La Liga champions are believed to be very close to finalizing a deal, with news about an official signing potentially only days away.
