Breaking News: Alex Rodriguez Tested Positive for Steriods in 2003

Joe Burgett Feb 7, 2009

Yankees Superstar Alex Rodriguez has tested positive for steroids, but not recently. Back in 2003. Now this is coming from SI.com and could be overblown, but still.

I mean, they are anabolic steroids, and, since he has not tested positive before then and since, you have to think there is nothing wrong. Those particular 'roids are ones given out by a doctor with a prescription, though SI.com reported that one of the two steroid he tested positive for, Primobolan, is "not an approved prescription drug in the United States, nor was it in 2003."

If they are indeed ones without a doctor's prescription and they are illegal, then there could be big actions taken by the Yankees and MLB. But usually they are given out for different injuries a player or any person has.

If A-Rod had any certain injury he was recovering from, then it wouldn't be too bad. You never know; they could have been for an injury, like Andy Pettitte.

Now there has not been any comment by the Yankees or Rangers, nor much from Scott Boras, his agent. Rodriguez himself declined comment.

But when a drug report comes out, many jump to conclusions about it. If A-Rod can explain why he used the steroids, though, there shouldn't be as much of a problem. However, it is nonetheless a big story to follow.

I feel we should hear something later today, but it may not be until tomorrow. Most likely a press conference will happen if it is bigger than what it should be. I see A-Rod declining to talk about the subject and passing word through Boras.

What do you think will happen if this is the reason why he is so productive and he has been taken them for some time?
