2012 MLB Mock Draft: Top College Prospects Most Likely to Be Busts
It's hard to grade prospects heading into any of the professional sports' drafts, but it's especially difficult when you're trying to grade baseball prospects.
It'll be some time before these kids make it to the majors, but here are three players who are more likely to bust than break out.
Brady Rodgers, RHP, Arizona State

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Bleacher Report's own Mike Rosenbaum thinks that Rodgers is among the top 25 college baseball prospects in the draft this year.
While I don't think he's wrong in that statement, I just don't see as much to like about the Arizona State hurler.
Rodgers' fastball struggles to get into the 90-mph range, usually hovering around the high 80s, which is a major concern to me. He's a control guy, and while there are places for those kinds of pitchers in the MLB, I don't see him becoming more than a middle-reliever or fill-in starter unless he develops his repertoire.
Stephen Piscotty, 3B, Stanford
Piscotty is a nice player who can can provide a team with solid average and defense, but he doesn't offer much else besides that.
He doesn't have the power to be a reliable source of home runs, and he doesn't have the speed to hit toward the top of the order.
I see him sort of like a Darwin Barney-type player: You know he'll give you the average, but you can't expect much else from the guy.
Tom Murphy, C, Buffalo
There aren't a whole lot of superstar catchers in the MLB right now, and I can't see Murphy's name being added to the upper echelon in the near future.
His power has been displayed on more than one occasion, but he struggles against left-handed pitching and is a streaky kind of hitter. He has power, no doubt; his issue is making contact often enough to remind teams that it's there.
The Buffalo product could be a fine backup catcher in years to come and specialize against righty pitchers, but I don't see Murphy becoming the next Carlos Santana or even Carlos Ruiz.
